That cell near Eastbourne has done surprisingly well in my opinion. Better than that ‘Kent clipper’ earlier.

It looks like being a messy-rain situation. Lightning activity has waned and is unlikely to pick up as it moves closer to the South coast, just not enough to support that.

Not sure I completely agree with that as highest MUCAPE will only just be moving into that Eastbourne etc area C16B18DC-EC5B-4353-90D6-AE8F319C5844.thumb.gif.756dfa6885239453a9ab7d18b0ef79db.gif

I imagine the two main storms are going to merge into one MCS soon-ish, the gap between them is shrinking

And as the first real storm chance day comes to a close, the feared bust takes an all too predictable 1-0 lead. Still, it’s early in the season and Mother Nature still has plenty of time to produce the goods and to turn things around.

...reverse psychology I'm guessing?

Indeed. A wet mess in April feels a lot better than one in August.  No reverse psychology methinks. It's it for the time being.... but I'm still leaving the bedroom window open a crack tonight just incase of a cheeky rumble..

That's what I'm hoping for, as it would hopefully give it enough ompfh to produce at least something for me to go out and point a camera at here! (North Hampshire)

Are we talking a sporadic lightning event?

Not a good last 10-15 minutes for lightning activity

Lovely consistent booms of elevated thunder now in Bexhill

I’m not sure but I think some wind shear near the coast and a flow of instability should pep things up a little

To me I think we're more likely to see 'thundery rain' - moderate to heavy rain with a few rumbles of thunder.

During this lull, I'd like to ask; do you prefer to see lightning/lightning strikes or hear the boom of thunder?

Sleeping to the sound of rain and thunder is the best ❤️
