Nope nothing yet, I fear you are correct. Oh well this has me more confident about tomorrow's chances!

Yep, definitely have got some rain now.

Yet again, Euro4 spot on. In my view they really are the top performers when it comes to convective set ups.

Yep. The capping was too strong today in many places.

Tomorrow it does look as if it will be weaker as pressure will be lower. A stagnated front should be able to erode it even more so across the midlands and into Lincolnshire/EA.

I misread that as ‘the clapping’

would that be the NHS disrupting our storm chances?

Absolute torrential downpour just happened here. No lightning seen as of yet. Surprised there wasn’t any!

Time for bed now Anyways. Hoping for a decent clear sky first thing to get the temperatures rising to punch through the cap and kick things off.

Saw that on the radar and I was surprised there wasn't any lightning too.

Would’ve been good so early in the season. Another thing is how remarkably warm it’s been for an early April evening. Still 18c at midnight. Feels more like a night in mid June or July!

There seems to be some high level instability this morning, opposite to yesterday with clear blue skies. Hopefully this bodes well for this afternoon. Cape levels in the SE of England will be a little bit higher than yesterday and start a little bit earlier by all accounts. Not going to lie this heat the past few days is quite oppressive and does feel like it could go out with a bang

Sun is out. Hoping to start seeing things develop soon. One thing about today, I feel where I am, I’m on a bit more borrowed time, as we have them stable northerlies forecast to come along later.

Over the years, I have seen these setups, and once a cool wind off the N Sea kicks in here, it’s game over usually (for surface based storms). A crucial 6 hour window for areas round the wash anyway.

Elsewhere, a greater risk today of some flashes and bangs!

Good luck all!!

Looking good for the midlands / middle half of the country today.

Potentially quite a soaking in places.

Quoting estofex here, they are not ruling out an isolated tornado event today!

Watch out for wall clouds and rotation if you do see a storm.

Morning everyone.

Well I’ve got a lot of low level crud around these parts this morning... But in the breaks I can see some really encouraging signs... Albeit a bit on the weak side.

... But the day is still young... Hopefully the sun will burn this lot off and allow things to really get going later. ?️

As always, good luck to everyone today with this, and stay safe. ?️:oldgood:

And just as I posted, the U.K. Met Office have just issued a thunderstorm warning for later. ?️?️:oldgood:

Interesting, I am nicely placed in the middle of the Met Office warning zone. I have my fingers crossed for later. Currently sunny skies albeit a bit hazy with temperatures currently at 15c. That's very warm for 10am on an April morning.

Seems a bit dubious to me. He is a respected forecaster and normally knows what he is talking about, but no forecaster is infallible and this goes against all other forecasts and charts that I have seen. Will be interested to see what transpires.

That's exactly why it caught me by surprise Being honest, not too sure what he means by sustained upper ridging, but apparently that's the reason for the cancellation!
