I think that virtually everybody will be under with their guesses. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 26C between now and the   weekend. It just seems so easy to achieve high temperatures these days without needing spectacular synoptics.

Scrolling through the ECM raw data for Saturday, and I now think 25C or 26C will be the maximum somewhere from London up to the East Midlands.

That would be some start to April. Out of the blue.

Looking good for @Freeze !

My guess went for a burton. However, my guess for 22.1°C was achieved at my station today.

Great news

A full on northerly would be great for the rest of this forthcoming week  how selfish of me  it wouldn’t surprise me to see 25c

Surprised Herstmonceux is top and quite a bit above the rest as it’s close to the coast? Any reason today?

Reached 18°C today here with mostly sunny conditions. Not bad for Lancashire in April!

Tomasz Schafernaker just stated on the 20:30 BBC weather that it got to 23.9c in Sussex according to the Met Office.

Edit.....Ive been looking for confirmation, but I can't find it.

Wind direction. It occurs here as well. I'm about the same distance from the sea - as the crow flies. If the wind direction moves to the E/ESE/SE in warm setups, the temps do well. 22.1°C here, which is a few degrees higher than I was expecting..

The Met Office on Twitter said that it reached 23.9c in Herstmonceux.

To be honest, I think @Freeze's guess is even a little too low! Some are forecasting 26c on Saturday.

I did 25.2c but for today so a little too early I think, but you never know!

Top temperature recorded today appears to be Wiggonholt 24.4.

Certainly a very warm day for the time of year across the south. Models underdid the temperatures today by a solid 2-3c, the only one that was close was GEM (which tends to be a little on the warm side in these set-ups usually). GEM suggests quite a small area again of 24c tomorrow and the quite a large area on Saturday. Would probably suggests a 25c is probable in the next 48hrs.
