What should happen is the front edge will get eroded as it comes on land. It won't disappear however as it's from the frontal boundary, but it may not be all that significant.

Still, it probably will put a lid on things eventually and we see the odd storm spark off from it overnight.

Snowy - not really, the models Never went for that sort of heat countrywide,, it was always going to be mainly a SE event due to that frontal boundary.

Heathrow at 31.4c at 12pm, so rough 2c puts us to 35c by 2pm.

Even the GFS 6 hours ago didn't pick up on the central England rain today.

I'm currently in Chichester which is probably 90 mins upstream from W.London.

Just the first signs of mid level cloud from the channel convection but skies mainly clear still. Doesn't look all that thick however at least on the leading front so some of that may well decay.

Snowy L - yeah GFS is trash with these setups! The plumes western edge is more active than forecast though.

Also Heathrow upto 31.4c at midday with several others at 31c. Should comfortably be through 33 sooner than later.

I'd guess cloud cover could become an issue by 4-5pm for W.London but just a guess. By then should be around 36-37c.

Edit - Heathrow at 33c now!

29.9°C here but cloud is now spoiling the party.

It's a very difficult task getting to 30°C+ here.

Just had a glance at the sky to the SW of me, it has completely filled in.

Seems to me getting a fully sunny hot day is a bit of a stretch these days, I wasn't here last Friday bit from what I gather almost a carbon copy of losing the sun around 1pm......

Anyone else think forecasters have handled this spell terribly. They seem to have massively underestimated these decaying fronts. All week they have been saying Friday will be incredible for England away from northwest coasts yet we now have a front in the middle of the country. Is it too much to ask them to pick up on these things the day before it happens?

That same front is sparking off these showers. We had a dry day forecast but this line of showers to my west looks like it will soon be upon me in Scunthorpe

Up to an unpleasant 28.8C here with a dewpoint of 19.7C. That makes it the warmest day of the year for us. I can see the thunderstorms over the York area in the distance but it remains sunny here for now.

Absolutely sweltering here now in London. Roasting doesn’t begin to describe it. Not a cloud in the sky.

Chris Fawkes on BBC weather a short while ago highlighted that area of cloud and showers currently pushing into Dorset and said the forecast high today is 36c, but it could get higher than that - 37c+ - depending on whether that cloud stays away from the SE.

Cloud is starting to make a move from the SW. I reckon we will miss a potential max today as the cloud will move in from anytime after 3ish and lose 1-2 hours of extra heating. 35-36c tops.

Im pretty much dead upstream on this flow and the cloud cover is starting to arrive from the SW but I think Heathrow has another 2hrs before the cloud covers the sun.

Anyway, Heathrow Already IS at 35c!

Record attempt may well be on after all IF the cloud stats clear for another 2hra. May just miss it BUT few doubts we will be getting in the top 5 now (just 1-2c shy with peak heating still well over an hour ago.)

Cambridge was reading 33C at noon -- so who knows? Keep the clouds at bay and delay any 'encroachment'... and Bob might be your uncle!

35c at London Heathrow

Btw where did you see the 35c? Still only seeing 33.5c for Heathrow from a little earlier, but may not have updated.

Quite, the 1320 reading was a rounded 33C.

Thanks! Wasn't doubting we'd hit 35c, just couldn't see it anywhere.
