How high will we get today? Could we see another 35c without any cloud interference?

I'd say 35c is a given today.

It would be unusual if the last day of a heatwave wasn't the hottest, quite possible with this one of course!

It looks very hot over such a wide area, surely we won't end that far from 36?

mines higher then londons... yours is high after last nights storms

cold shower... fan.... copious amounts of alcohol... heat is no problem to sleep

I would’ve thought alcohol would make you feel warmer though, which is why you often see people in the middle of winter on a Friday night wearing next to nothing outside.

Upto 31ish again, the sea breeze a long with some high cloud has now knocked things back to 29C.

Just reading those temperatures makes me feel sick.

So glad I’m not in the SE.

Normally the odd day at 33-36c is ok. When you've had it 6 days in a row (as we have), the inside of the house is literally a furnace!

But I'd still be looking for the next heatwave!

Depends on the type of drink.  Beer or cider are mostly water and if chilled very effective at cooling yourself.  A dram of whiskey will give you a warm feeling inside however strong drink can interfere with the body's ability to control its internal temperature.

Whilst I definitely prefer cold weather and snow, I'm more of an extremes wanter today, and this spell definitely ranks up there with some of the most impressive heatwaves. Hasn't quite got the length of a 03/76 but the length of the 34c temperature do put this up in that sort of category.

Bit of a downer that weathercast has not had any station data for a couple of days. Noticed that it also affects their app and other meteogroup sites (eg. meteoservices.be) and data from other countries.

34c here and a few other spots, but cloud now starting to rapidly build across a good chunk of the SE. Things could be going bang soon!

An unexpected decrease in temperature here, just before lunch it showed 32.1 then fell back to 29.9 and is up to 30.6 now.

No cloud and hardly a sea breeze here about as far as one can get from any coast. They are not unknown though, but are very later afternoon/early evening happenings. Oppressive again with Td on 20 C

It actually feels hotter here today than yesterday so it doesn't surprise me we are at 35c+ again.

Very oppressive here in warks. Accu. App showing 33c.

Too hot to do anything really. There is no breeze and last night was the worst trying to sleep.

As we are both into our 70s all we are doing is sitting in front of a fan and taking in plenty of cold water and squash.

This weather is OK if on seaside or hotel with a pool break, otherwise it is simply an ordeal to suffer until it breaks, hopefully soon.

So six successive days 34C, probably for the first time ever.

Shame that this spell may get easily forgotten in the future, I suspect, in the midst of all the heat events of the past few years. Yet for sheer intensity over a sustained period, in the southern counties at least, this period has been top of the tree since 2003, and possibly 1976. Never felt like I was having Spanish weather in the UK before, but I have done in the past six days.

Totally depends on definition of intensity and sustained period - 32°C on 15 consecutive days is the oft trotted out 1976 comparison.

Yes I don't think this spell can be considered to be better than that. But 1976 was the best in living memory.

I'd probably give this a draw with 2003 - for heat without a break, this was slightly better, but of course we haven't had that signature 100F+ day.

I'm speaking about the area immediately around me of course; Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, maybe London?
