Always meant to be cloudyish but feeling summery, never was meant to be 35 degrees in the NW Midlands, can see trough on chart

A couple of days ago I very nearly commented on what, to me, seemed a mismatch of the forecast and the Met O Fax charts.

But then BBC TV is based on Meteo outputs, which, I think, are a mix of EC and GFS?

Doesn't surprise me that Herstmonceux has rocketed to 33c.

A few miles inland from the Sussex coast.

I Can see the thick cloud being imported off the channel being dissipated as it crosses the South Downs.

So we have a cloudy coast,a narrow strip a few miles inland of blue skies, and further inland I can see the cloud sheet toward London.

Big forecast bust for London by the looks of things. Can’t see anything like 36c being recorded there! Sheltered south coast like herstmonceux perfect in these northerlies.

Last couple of frames of satellite do show the cloud thinning.

Sadly Gary broke the news I seriously thought we had done it, it’s interesting how frequently we seem to challenge it but never come quite close enough in end.

Langdon Bay came close to beating it. Unfortunately the wind direction changed between 4am and 5am. Probably needed to hold out another 2 hours before solar heating kicked in.

Looks to me like a little sea-breeze has crept into Sussex coasts, might scupper chances of getting above 35C. Maybe Gatwick could have a chance?

We seem to have stagnated last hour or so .....maybe could squeeze a 35/36 somewhere later but won’t be as widely hot as yesterday ....

Sun close to coming out here. Hopefully, when it does, the temp rockets. Slowly going up at the mo - 29.3°C.

It’s gone again at the moment but the temperates still rising. 29.9°C so hopefully I’m about to hit 30°C for the second time this year which is rare for here.

Can confirm that sea breeze here directly on the coast..notice a drop off too now at Herstmonceux.

It seems to be breaking the cloud nicely though!

Wouldn't be surprised if my local station ended up top now - 32C, no sea breeze, mainly blue sky ahead.

Where are you located?

Just north of Portsmouth, Thorney Island is nearest station

You’ve done wellTemps creeping up to 28.4 here, my dad who lives 2 miles away in Sompting said it went up to 33.5 in the shade there then dropped to 32, still 2 hours that temps can peak, I will be happy if it hits 30 here.

Heathrow is now at 30c. With the cloud breaking up and a sunny rest of the afternoon I reckon we’ll prob peak at 32c or 33c in London.

No real heatwave here. Just pleasantly warm and sunny.  ☀️ Currently 23°C with 57% humidity according to my phone with a nice gentle breeze. Similar temp to yesterday but with less humidity and a lot more sunshine.

A little wispy cloud starting to appear now but by no means spoiling things. I much prefer this to 30°C heat. The south east can keep it.

Well Hurn's climbed to 30C under mostly cloudy skies, now the sun is out it is hot, still could sneak a 32-33C here. Also got a DP of nearly 21C.
