Just noticed another night last night where it dropped into single figures. Hadn't happened in July over the last few years that I've lived here and then this year it happens twice.

9.1C at 2pm in July!!!

Are you sure it was correct? Yesterday was pretty chilly tbh but I still managed 13.8C. I've never witnessed single figure temperatures during the day in July before.

I drove from Scotland to preston on Sunday July 5th and at 2pm near the Scottish border it was showing 8c!

Felt like a January day.

We usually get one or two nights in July where the temperature has dropped into single figures but this July I've recorded 8 so far. Average minimum currently at just 10.9C.

I notice we’ve had a lot of below average minima this month and this summer as a whole. 7 nights with single digit minima here this month... and most days have only had a minima of 10/11C. I’d be expecting 13 or 14C minima at this time of year.

Sounds like things have been even worse up in Scotland then!  I mean we've had a lot of days here where temps have struggled to get above the low teens but to have temps in single figures during waking hours in July is absolutely ridiculous!

Yes both minima and maxima below average here (especially maxima) which is quite surprising given how exceptionally cloudy this month has been. Usually, cloudy months have at least average or above average minima.

My July average min temps for over the last few years are:

2017: 14.5°C

2018 15.2°C

2019: 14.1°C

2020 so far: 12.7°C

Clearly this year has been lower than usual from that

The rain to compliment the temps that day as well was horrendous

Hopefully we can recover Summer through August and September, not asking for much after a terrible Summer so far in Central Scotland.

As for max temperatures, the average here is below 20°C currently at 19.8°C.

Overnight low of 7°C looks like it could be the lowest July temp in London for 5 years, and means we've had 5 sub 10°C night min temps for July as a whole.  Recent July min temps have been 10°C, 13°C, 10°C, 9°C. So relatively chilly nights for time of year!

Friday is gonna be a scorcher. ☀️

I have a feeling we will get an average August with more sunshine than recent years, with a week of hot weather and storms. September will see a continuation of summer for the first half, before it starts to turn colder, not just in the mornings and evenings, but daytime highs will start to drop.

Not over here it ain't.  Some lovely sunshine in the morning before the cloud and rain moves back in. It will be strange to see clear blue skies though, might be first time in 6 or 7 weeks.

Miserable again here. Rain and suppressed temperatures.

I mean I had higher temperatures last winter on some days (though it never felt because it was always wet and windy with it).

It’s only 16.1°C here!  Around 4 degrees below average! Coldest July I’ve ever known!

In comparison to other July’s, last year’s average July max was 20.9°C and in 2018 we barely had a daytime max below 20°C.

I hope you are right but my gut feeling is we will get another poor August with below average temperatures, sunshine and above average rainfall. Maybe mediocre/average at best.

Isn’t it just? Just checked bbc weather for my location and max forecast temp has jumped from 27 to 29 degrees overnight! Full sunshine forecast as well. Will be a shocker after having sub 20C maxima for the past four weeks. But it won’t last as on the weekend it’s back into the high teens here.

No it doesn’t look as good where you are.

But living in Northern Ireland you will always more exposed to the Atlantic.

I expect that, but not 8 solid weeks of it.

No it’s been terrible here as well. But when the winds from the south or the south east (as it will be on Friday) I tend to do quite well for heat/warmth (perhaps a bit too well as it’s now forecast to reach 29 tomorrow here)!

Some Kelvin Waves on display at the moment. One of my storm chaser buddies can see these all the way from Brighton too!

14-day weather forecast for BB8.

It may be partly driven by the UKV which has ramped up maxima for tomorrow in the last 24 hours. Now has grid points of 35C in London for example.
