im pretty chuffed with my prediction for summer in my neck of the woods..i went for a cool and rather wet June and first half of July..before it becomes warmer and drier thereafter (this was all based on a developing la nina) looking at the models it seems as after mid July the weather will settle into a warmer drier pattern

What's this I keep on reading about some 30C weather in a week or so time....is it the usual tabloid rubbish? Local news says there will be "six days" of 30c temps

That is tabloid rubbish, though long range forecast does show it turning warmer around 20th:

Another day that would be fairly nice if it wasn't for the wind. Still seems things are looking up, just got to get through the next few days first.

I usually just use the BBC weather app and Gavsweathervids on YouTube to get updates on the weather. Don’t bother with tabloids as it they just try to over exaggerate everything to get people to buy/click on their newspapers.  The daily express is the worst for this.

They just cherry pick one outlier chart and run a whole story on it. Winter deep freeze stories will be featured soon enough...

Yep,  and we know that whenever they do forecast a cold winter or a hot summer it never happens lol!

Oh yes - I can't remember what guy it is but he claims to be an expert because he predicted the cold winter of 2010 and has tried to say every winter since then like last year would be the "coldest on record". They said the other week about a "40C UK heatwave"....despite later saying the 40C was in southern Spain...

This evening (here in Chelmsford, Essex) really felt like the end to a miserable autumn day - fairly dull, cold (13C) and drizzling. It's a shame because it was very sunny this morning.

It wasn't too bad a few days ago when it was fairly humid and sunny with temperatures just below 20C - it felt pleasant because of the sun, plus the wind took the edge off the humidity (although it got a bit too blowy at times).

An easterly wind is showing up though which could suppress temperatures, if that forecast is right.

Just been to the local shop earlier. and cold hair was coming out of my mouth when I breathed. Its the 8th of  July right?

What a depressing climate we live in. Cant get above 14c/15c here for the first week of July. But been told by the BBC its around or just below average so makes it all ok (when they are clearly wrong on that)

If the tabloids are saying "-10c Arctic Blast of Death!!", what they usually mean is that a remote Scottish mountain top will record -10c, while we have a cloudy +6c.

Only directly on the coast. Easterly winds from a warmish sea in summer won't be too much of a problem inland.

On my two weeks holiday. Stuck in this country and it’s raining. How utterly depressing this summer is.

It’s a shame, after such a promising start in May and early June.

I have the last week of July and first week of August off and staying on the emerald isle for the duration.

The persistent West to East airflow has me worrying it's not going to be good.

This is one of the most October-ish weeks of July I can remember. At least next week is looking more pleasant.

Yeah I will say that's one huge benefit of this weather - my flat is a very comfortable temperature.

We will get another hot spell, probably a few days in mid to late July, and possibly another hot week in August, but I think that’s it before the autumn takes hold.

I would like to see at least one widespread thunderstorm event between now and late August. Still confident we will get one.
