Social distancing, Lockdown - Will we still need the weather forecast?

Recommended Posts

Absolutely we do! Speaking as someone likely to be quarantined soon (diabetic) I definitely intend to keep up with the weather. For one thing, I'm lucky enough to have a private back garden, and (if I understand the proposals correctly) going outside in areas not open to the public will be allowed. Also, even if I'm indoors it'll cheer me up to have bright, fresh springlike days rather than the never-ending wind and rain we've endured for months.

Yes please, as I have lots of plants in my garden (shrubs, wildflowers and trees) that need tending.  Two of my planters are flooded with rain water.  I also have a makeshift pond (using a blue council plastic recycle box) to observe the first signs of tadpoles and to seed my native wildflower seeds.

Only forecasting staff left in my office. To be honest I'm glad, I couldn't deal with being stuck in my flat for an indefinite period. Will change if any of us become ill though.

Regards to the forecasting team, keep safe.

Someone mentioned on Twitter about Tornado season and community storm shelters, leading onto Hurricane warnings and mass evacuations. We might  "lucky" with the timing of the peak in the northern hemisphere but around the world? Imagine being stuck inside a flat in London for weeks with a summer heatwave. Also flooding evacuations here in the UK, again hopefully we are tipping into less of a risk but its not been long.

As I'm somewhat (as a SAD-sufferer) obsessed with maximising my exposure to natural UV-radiation, I do sincerely hope that weather-forecasts continue to be given...:oldgood:

We work from home anyway, just have to see what happens when the children join the merry throng. Wonder what is happening for television broadcasts, STV is in an empty office. I have a green screen sheet at home on the wall.
