Forced to stay open? I don't think phrases like that are appropriate. Whether schools should be open or closed.. (that's up for debate!). I think worried parents will be getting v. concerned reading that and will be more likely to keep their children at home (?).

How can the government prove the schools have close unnecessarily? No one is being tested unless they are hospitalised and people have to self isolate if they have symptoms which could mean schools coulda have dozens of cases but not have any cases at the same time.

One of the best tweets I’ve ever seen !

In the USA it’s easier to get hold of an AR-15 assault rifle than a coronavirus test kit !

Italy in lockdown... NBA season suspended in the US golf suspended... no large gatherings in France or Belgium... even lockdown in Denmark despite ZERO confirmed deaths there... how does the UK respond? Like this Cheltenham today..

Hard to know, I suppose it is to keep the schools open when staffing collapses in the future. I legitimately think they are not going to close schools unless staffing makes it dangerous to keep the kids there. Its just not a part of their plan full stop. And this measure IMO proves it.

However glad they are FINALLY acknowledging that they need to ban gatherings, maybe WAY too late by that point, I think cases will explode next week in this country, as part of the curve.

Might have the power but doesn’t say they will use it.

After 3 months of this surely we 'recognise' our 'Surroundings' are proving to be a major contributor in 'spread' of covid-19?

All that footage from China of 'mass disinfection' and now in Italy?

Is this just folk 'Stabbing in the Dark' or do they have solid data to demand such actions?

If you get a cluster of cases at a school surely that then becomes an issue for the local community .

Are parents going to be forced to send their kids to school .  What if the parent is the main carer for an elderly family member and fears catching and then passing on the virus .

Here is a comparison chart made a few days ago between Italy and the USA showing the 11 day lag between the two countries.

The accuracy is pretty scary

1.697 (Thursday) > 1,832 (So far today)

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
