With community spread evident in Malaysia, the European & North American spread of SARS-CoV-2 might not be suppressed by summer weather as much as some thought.

What do they mean by most shops? - so basically if you hadn't the money to go out and buy ridiculous amounts of stuff you are now going to starve - fantastic policy making there.

Its basically the French/Italian/Spanish lockdown. Only shops that are open are food shops and pharmacies and only for limited hours.

From what i'm hearing we are probably 48hrs or less away from a true lockdown situation being implemented. The fact the army are starting to get involved backs that up as well.

Something pretty intense is coming our way very soon.

Evening all,

Very worrying and upsetting Day, for Yours Truly.

After having a reasonable Afternoon, my Wife's condition seems to have worsened Tonight.

High Temperature, sweating and that dry Cough, back again.

My Wife, myself and my two Stepsons are approaching the end of our first Day of "self isolation", after my Wife exhibited those suspect symptoms, this Morning.

Only another 13 Days to go (hopefully).

I've marked off the 14 Days in my Diary, where I keep a record of the taking of my B.P. Medication, etc.

First Day of "freedom" (hopefully) will be, April Fools Day. Seems very appropriate.

You're all invited to our P.I.P. (Post Isolation Party). But don't bring a bottle, bring a Toilet Roll and Face Mask!!

The upsetting news for me, was regarding my Son Antony.

As I've mentioned on many Threads, Antony is in the advanced stages of Huntington's Disease.

This was inherited from his Mother, my first Wife.

He lives with my Daughter (his Sister), and her Boyfriend. Unfortunately and sadly, myself and my Daughter havn't spoken, since last May. Although I've tried reconciliations and offered "olive branches" of peace.

They've all been declined, leading to an intolerable situation, which has gone on for far too long now!!

It's a very complex story, which is far too complex and personal, to explain on here, and sadly my Daughter has also inherited the HD Gene, and will soon go on to develop this awful Disease.

Having looked after my first Wife for many Years, when she suffered from this cruel disease, I know it's imperative to have a break from all the stresses of looking after a loved one, with HD.

I was very upset that my Daughter couldn't find it in her, to tell her Father that she'd placed her Brother, in Respite Care and gone off to Canada with her Boyfriend. I was very distressed to find out this information, from my Sister.

I eventually calmed down, after speaking to my Wife and Sister. We all agreed that it was probably the best place to be at the moment (as long as it's not a BUPA Home), which it isn't.

I've been very worried that if he caught Coronavirus, from one of his Carers at Home, it could prove fatal for him.

His Mother died in December 2008, after developing Pneumonia, after contracting a nasty Virus.

The poor thing, was too frail to fight it, which is a condition Antony is fast approaching.

Hope mods don't mind but below are photos of Antony with his Sister, during happier times, on holiday visiting their Italian Cousins:

large.gallery_2739_1518_347024.jpg.698fc85b902a9d6f7f7a408ac1410b37.jpg     large.gallery_2739_1518_418737.jpg.da5788528c6dea3b9fa7513d1284738a.jpg

Knowing how scared Antony probably feels, upsets me greatly.

But having viewed images of the Care Home online, specialised for caring for sufferers of HD, I think he is in the best place at this worrying time, and I have to console myself with that thought.

Off to bed now, to see how my "ailing" Wife, is getting on.

Regards,

Tom.  :hi:

Tom you brought a tear to my eye.

God bless...

A Prof from Imperial college on Sky News now.

He says that UK is actually ahead of both where Italy and Spain were, in implementing the restrictive conditions the UK govt announced today and yday.

So that dispels some of the claims made in the media and in here.

Surprised everyone?

No, Italy was caught with pants down with many thousands of cases before they even started. Spain’s reaction was also poor.

Curious about how long this London lockdown will last and whether it'll extend to the whole of the UK. Also, whether road traffic will be restricted together with the public transport restrictions. Thinking about leaving London but if it extends then there's no point!

I always said i never had a problem with the concept of stocking up, thats just taking precautions against ending up starving and don't blame anybody for not trusting politicians to care about you, what i questioned was a) the chavvy selfish manner of it, and b) the ridiculous amounts of the same item - ie - if you are gonna buy 100 quids worth of bog roll, then you really need to be buying 900 quids worth of other stuff to go with that, i bet people who were buying didn't even have anywhere near that buying power.

I think London is a little bit different due to its size and population, but I'd guess if cases were to continue to rise outside of London at a decent rate (as they probably will, especially in the SE counties) I can imagine any lockdown being extended.

Good to see the government have reacted very swiftly to a change in the modelling forecast. Can't fault them for that at all, may have been on the slow side to start, but fair play, just hope it isn't too late for some avoidable deaths.

The Lidl and Iceland near me in North London were around 80% empty earlier today. My jaw dropped to the floor almost every aisle I went down was empty besides a few half opened items.

Supermarkets here will be completely bare tomorrow with these new announcements. But apparently they have it under control! Let's hope they sort it out soon.

Most people are staying in and trying not to pxss off the Gendarmerie !

I’d much rather deal with the UK police who tend to have better people skills !

HAHA, I know what you mean. I'm a fairly cheery happy person. Going on eurostar for example, I stop at the UK checkpoint leaving, cheery hello, cheers mate, all that usual stuff, and I get the expected reply from the UK guy of "thanks, have a good day etc etc", all with a smile. Leaving France at the French passport control (and bare in mind we're leaving, so they should be happy), I'm saying the usual cheery hello, and I get the most miserable person you could imagine, who instantly assumes everyone is a terrorist, and just says "passport", not even a thank you or good bye lol. I know I'm being picky, but manners are high up my list, and overall the French authorities had none lol. I know its different cultures etc, just makes me chuckle.

Yes but I found this video, the way things are going this is way over the top causing way more aniexty than the virus itself.

To be fair, as usual, that is doing the rounds on Twitter, BUT it doesnt mean anything. Tanks are transported all the time, its just people are more alert to it now, same with any military vehicle.

Situation in Mulhouse, France is bleak. Hospital overrun, patients being transferred to other areas of France.

A very sophisticated set up with an airborne ICU. The Italians were saying that their patients were too ill to be move to other less impacted areas this will give some of the French patients a better chance of survival.

The most terrifying lot though are the customs officials .

Because of our proximity to the Spanish border they do pop up at times.

The worst official however was when I was going from Roscoff to Plymouth , I think one wrong word and I’ve ended up in the slammer !

Yeh. Its more likely they are just relocating them to a more suitable location for some sort of logistical reason or something (if they arent on a normal route). Even if they did deploy tanks, I cant see what use they would be lol.............although if anything good can come out of all this, then I wanna see a tank rolling down my street (and not on a truck)!!

I am thinking the same thing, kW, only question what will be the initial extent? I mean geographically.  Apparently London is 3 or 4 weeks ahead of the rest of us, from BJ comments.  I think this is total b*llocks, this virus is right through the country already.

We are riddled with it.  ☹️

People will do that from here as well but its if people come from other areas and drive here because they have run out of stuff or being told they cannot have more than 2 items elsewehere that will be the problem.
