re employment, government could add COVID-19 to the list of conditions that are covered by anti-discrimination legislation. that would give people a legal recourse at least if they felt they were badly treated purely because of their bad luck in contracting the disease

That's their biggest increase in 24 hours right?

Biggest rise yes. 3,590 was the previous high for daily cases. 368 was the previous high for deaths after a drop over the past 3 days

our boy Boris is late.

I think he is waiting for the Education secretary to say what he needs to say in the commons before doing his conference.

Gavin Williamson making statement now - think he is closing schools.

Ask them for a written full risk assessment, with reference to your underlying health condition and government announcements at the time of your request, and their corporate negligence policies/insurance.

My partner has come home from work with a cough so i will be self isolating for 14 days now.

At the end of that period i will follow your advice.

Thankyou so much for the reply.

Breaking: All schools are closing in the UK after Friday until further notice

Yep I think that is wise.

Also keeping schools open on a small level for key workers, which I think everyone will happy with that.

Also delivery drivers!! I'm glad they have acknowledge this!

I've seen it quoted last week or so that tests were taking up to 4 days, but not seen anything that says they still are. I'm not disputing it by any means, but something up to date would be nice, rather than relying on possible old information.

I just had lunch with a close friend who is a doctor in a hospital just north of London.

He said they're still waiting 3-4 days for test results to come back. Also worth noting that if someone dies, they may be tested for covid-19 but the result will also take 3-4 days.. So there is a significant lag for positive case numbers and also somewhat of a lag for the death toll.

The Germans tend to live pretty healthily for the most part. Participate in lots of sports and the majority eat not a bad diet. Not to mention the healthcare system being very well prepared. The Scandinavians are also quite similar, which could also explain the relatively low mortality rate there too. Cleanliness over there is what caught my eye as well.

They do eat a lot of meat over there, especially processed meats, although that is changing as I have found on my work visits in recent years. It is now possible to get very good veggie/fish based meals compared to 10/20 years ago.

Well thank god for schools closing.

Boris yesterday or a couple of days ago decided to ban mass gatherings, but didn't decide to close schools?

I think he's now noticing things that we are noticing.

But then it could just be how many have ended up in Hospital.

These are pictures taken by me today. I have no words for the selfishness and how unnecessary this is. What's worse, I overheard someone be declined most of the vegetables he managed to get (most were gone) and he was limited to 2. He is self employed. How is he supposed to make money?

The greed and lunacy is just disgusting to me. Tesco etc will never close down and there are no shortages of production. People are creating this themselves. I also have a elderly neighbour near me that couldn't get any bread because it was all gone. Luckily I had a loaf I could give her.

This needs to stop, and NOW.

Agreed, Matty, if they won't behave in a socially responsible manner they are going to have to made to behave.

How much bloody fresh produce can you hoard for sense's sake?

Italy now running at 7.9% death rate for confirmed cases. Awful stats. For countries with over 250 cases, these are the top 5 rates

I wonder what the true figure is for the number of people in Italy with coronavirus? Could we be talking upwards of half a million?
