Ex-head of the Royal College of GPs Dr Clare Gerada, 60, caught the bug after returning from New York, and has revealed what it was like to have the deadly virus

I'm pretty sure it was her immune system, and more specifically, has a decent amount of T-Cells.

Yes it is good people are falling into line from the information given and not doing it because of a heavy stick. We will be arguing from now until kingdom come whether the advice has been given at the right stages.

I am of the opinion that everybody will slam the government on their response but I would like to see them try to sort this out and keep everybody happy.  Life just isn't like that.

Why can we not give more positive posts as well?  I think I have had the virus I have recovered but am left with a cough that seems to be clearing junk from my lungs.

I am not going anywhere near my parents who are 82 and 83.  One is type 2 diabetic.

This means I feel like a leper.  How long do I stay away for fear of poss infecting them.

How can I tell my 3 year old granddaughter she cant hug me because I might catch a bug from her.  It breaks my heart to think that for the foreseeable future I will not be able to hug my kids.

This is the sort of situation a lot of us are in and I have suffered sever depression before and this is not helping me stay away from the pit I climbed out of.  And anybody who has been in that pit will know how terrifying it is thinking you might go back down.

Can we try with a few more positive post too please ty.

These are unprecedented times for in the modern time.

Increasingly clear that this is a situation only matched by WW2 and the 1-2 punch of WW1 and Spanish flu.

This is in line with the story of the Diamond Princess. This is actually very good news. It means the death ratios being publicized might be 2 to 4 times higher than actual, because obviously asymptomatic people are unlikely to ask for a test. In addition, if a number of people with symptoms but able to cope are not being tested, decrease the percentage even more. Maybe, in an area with good health care, the death percentage might even be lower than 0.5%. Still terrible but not nearly as terrible.

An appeal to people to remember you are reading posts from people you do not know, you do not know the background of and do not know their motivations - on a weather forum.

If there are concerns about you or loved ones dial 111, look at NHS websites and seek professional advice.

Just keeping this in view as it is important.

Wow so they are still going for the mitigation route.

Good luck Netherlands...at least our government has somewhat seen the folly of that policy, even if it's late in the day and still imo not quite far enough.

Hmm......many on here have been using terms like

"everyone else in Europe are doing things differently than the UK. Why are we not following suit?"

So, the truth is that "everyone in Europe" is NOT doing things differently.

Asymptomatic - (pathology) Not exhibiting any symptoms of disease (wiktionary)

synonym - symptomless

basically you could be a carrier and not show signs of the symptoms

To be fair - previous posts discussing how the Netherlands were handling the situation cannot be slated now if their strategy has just changed. There's no logic in that argument. The Netherlands were implementing lockdown measures last week.
