Serious health conditions, or anything long term?

If me and my husband need to self isolate, ie my husband has copd and heart problems, what happens to the kids, cause they can't come in and out for school which isn't closed, or who will take the youngest in. Won't work.

The whole family needs to isolate

It gets even more concerning that they say that and then say that the country as a whole is ahead of their estimates and London is even further ahead still. It suggests the modelling is off.

I raised this point earlier. If I saw a weather model claim a storm is at 144hrs will hit the UK and others suggest it won't and there is total agreement with that, and then suddenly the model moves the storm up to 120hrs in rapid time, I'd suggest Steve Murr would be reaching for that bin!

Lets hope that is not the case, but at least they are understanding that things are moving quicker now.

This children is the lowest risk is the dumbest crap spouted over and over. Yes children don't general become very ill with it but they SPREAD IT to people who do. Not directed at you Zak. That guy in the tweet.

Yes, indeed. Sorry for posting that, didn't think much through that. It's not just schools either, it could be universities and perhaps much more. Speaking of schools, there are also older teachers there too, meaning that if one of the children at the school catch the virus then the older people are risking their lives. Soon, the majority of children at school will be home for the Easter holidays. If they keep the schools open until this period, then they have a higher chance of infection, and the children probably won't be looked after too well as their parents are at work being kept busy.

I think Boris has to do something here. He has to make a choice about this this week. The sooner the schools are closed, the children might have a less chance of catching the virus.

53 dead in the UK, so the delay does appear to have been due to the deaths.

Highest death toll reported so far.

I'm VERY worried now, it puts us in he same line as Spain...

Germany up 1383 so far today

Spain is up 1440 so far.

USA up 485

Waiting for France to come in now.

Very bad day of news about the Coronavirus sadly. Not much in the way of positive news it has to be said.

I'm confused about the working from home situation.

I'm a freight train driver, therefore obviously can't work from home, but neither do I think I'm essential?

Therefore do I go to work, including travelling, or do I sit at home and hope I get paid.

Oh, and we have a non existent HR department so don't tell me to find out from my employer.

What freight do you move, if its food or other essentials you are essential. Also gas oil or fuel.

Nipped out this morning for milk and bread.

Still staff said their toilet roll, pasta and rice were fully stocked at 8am when they opened.  All gone by half past eight.

She said it was older people in the main panic buying.

I just wish I had the choice in the next couple of weeks to home school my daughter. I know it will be hard to close the schools but at least this could lessen numbers.

Yes, I think that is the best suggestion, there maybe fines down the line but if you are not happy then that is your option.

Personally, I think on balance it is still right to keep schools open (and I work in one, so I have skin in the game!) however I'm mightily concerned about the easter holidays and what is going to happen afterwards.

These are screen grabs and even though it looks bad for 3 days our new cases have gone down in number not up.  That has to be a good thing

Would imagine the fact they’re not testing as many is the reason for that

So don't go to the pub (my local usually has about 30 people in it) the pictures (maybe a couple of 100 people on a busy day) but let's keep schools open (potentially over 1000 students - we have 700 on roll.) It's just so disjointed. Half the pupils at our school rely on grandparents to pick them up anway it's not even shielding the elderly.

Pub my daughter works in has been closed from tomorrow by management, that's in Brentford London.

Still a terrible situation in Italy. They've had a bit of a decrease however.

Perhaps a small glimmer of hope on the horizon?

Let's hope so

Who can blame them .

Older people need to get stocked up seeing as fluffy terms like being shielded means zip unless concrete action is taken to ensure they’re not just abandoned .
