"Well it looks like we didn't get all dressed up for nothing......"

rain setting in here in Mytholmroyd as the Army begin dropping of sand bags and plugging any holes in the flood wall they find....... this is not a good feeling being a mere few metres from all the action you'll no doubt be watching on the news later

Stay safe folks and do not enter flood waters!!!

you never know what it is contaminated with and what is lurking in the murky waters (Grids/culverts with missing ironwear etc?)

So what idiocy will we see today. Shorts and Tshirted hikers rescued from Snowdon. People being washed into the sea in Newquay whilst taking selfies.....with a dozen surfers in the backgroun

One hell of an atmospheric river of moisture upstream across the Atlantic all the way from Bahamas   Looks ominous and indeed models are indicating another wave of heavy rain to move in toni

Looks like more than one squall to me, as in there are a few inbeded in the midnight sequence to me. Wonder if lightning on any of those.

No lightning on detectors associated with that. Think generally the atmosphere looks too stable for lightning ahead and along cold front today and tomorrow, with little instability given deep saturated profiles, however, strong wind shear parallel to surface cold front will create some shallow line convection as noted off east Ireland recently and is modelled to become more prevalent tonight and Sunday as the cold front begins to clear SE across England and Wales.

Not a lot happening here. Rain stopped as soon as I started washing the car and winds eased back, Raining again now and wind picking up again.

Just driven through Wales - up the A470. The weather was pretty bad but worse here in north west Wales (northern Snowdonia). Here’s a clip of the wind here in a village called Deiniolen. No major flooding at the moment but it wouldn’t surprise me if we hear reports later.

Wind speeds here at the moment are a lot lower than forecast, which is a good thing. Not much in the way of rain either. Plenty of time for that to change, of course.

HI Maz!

Do you think the secondary low may have shifted things around a bit?

We've just had our first rains here in Mytholmroyd but I'm now looking a a big chunk of dry coming in on the rainfall radar?

The winds are certainly picking up though!

Pfff. That was a strong wind gust. Around 40mph that was and it blew half of my goal over that was jabbed into the ground with those large staple thingys.

Winds picking up but not the 60mph gusts that were forecast by *some* models for 15:00. 10-20 mph lower so far!

More steady rain than Ciara though.

I really don't know to be honest. I have been too busy so I haven't been following the charts/observations a great deal.

I have just been monitoring my data and a few friends stations around these parts.

The lows main centre is now below 924 mb...... could it go sub 920 mb?

I've seen plenty of 'canes that never got sub 930 mb so this really is a Beastie for sure!

Looking out my window here on the isle of wight. Just a wet windy Saturday afternoon.

Not much of a storm down here at the moment.

All very quiet on the Ireland thread too.

GFS this time is way off the mark but still plenty of time yet although saying that there are gales in the SW gusting upto 67mph.

Did enough damage the other day,had to buy a new chainsaw today.
