Ding, ding, round one is now over in these parts and the rain had passed.

The river is half full and hopefully this lull will allow the recent rain to drain off the hills in readiness for round 2 later?

What a day!

Just copped for a 'mini squall line' and it was fierce!

If this continues to develop as it heads south some folk will have issues with both rainfall and wind

Be safe people!

EDIT: Yup , the NE leg of the squall has turned electric!

MAP.BLITZORTUNG.ORG

Blitzortung.org, lightning and thunderstorms in real time

Edit: and that 'secondary low' has now been ingested by the main low

I'm not so sure the secondary has been eaten by Dennis. I decoded this about an hour ago and it looks alive to me.

Getting wild here now as the 'squall' approaches. Wind has gotten up and the rain is now torrential but the main core is yet to arrive. Would not want to be driving in this.....

The winds were bad during the ragged squall end but they REALLY intensified after the rain had passed for about 10 mins.  One of the solar panels attached to a neighbours roof flew off during what felt like the biggest gust during that time o_O

Just arrived: as expected wild and wet but not as strong as the squall with Ciara. Lets see if the wind picks up immediately afterwards as experienced by @Ryukai

A hell of a lot of rain piling into Wales - probably some flooding throughout the night

I thought the worst was over here a couple of hours ago as the wind and the rain seemed to be easing off.  I was wrong.  Torrential rain has returned and looks to be set in - possibly for the night looking at the radar.  This is as heavy as its been all day and it appears to moving north east towards the midlands.  I can only hope that it subsides before river levels in sensitive areas are inundated.

Careful T.S. ....looks like round 2 might be worse than round 1 looking at the Rainfall Radar?

As with all our recent rain there appears to be a big orographic shunt once the airmass is over us?

My gods I so hope so!!!!

The frantic activity outside my front door all day (inc. the Army bods) can't but freak you out slightly?

You see saw between thinking you have a handle on things (not as bad as last weeks?) to O.M.G. why are they throwing so many thousands at this one when they did jack shiite last week?

But then I'm warned off further sociological comment............ ho hum.....

I've not seen as much water in the Usk for many a year, and 8 hours more rain to come

Yeah T.S. , we've shipped out a lot of the rain that came earlier and this 'enhanced activity' means the drain crew are working 24/7 to keep the culverts free from gravel/sand so the roads are clearing better?

Even the Trains, supposedly cancelled from 5 pm, are still running meaning Walsden (outside of Tod and before Rochdale) is still clear of flooding?

Everything crossed eh?

Keep well clear of it Matty, things change real fast as Elland Bridge saw back in 2015?

You just don't know what is flowing down that torrent and about to tw@ the bridge?
