That doesn't surprise me as it's the highest airport in England.

Have had many happy landings in worse at LBA!

Just copped for a 'mini squall line' and it was fierce!

If this continues to develop as it heads south some folk will have issues with both rainfall and wind

Be safe people!

EDIT: Yup , the NE leg of the squall has turned electric!

Edit: and that 'secondary low' has now been ingested by the main low

Torrential rain in Darlington from the Squall line

I would be surprised if you didn't hear any thunder, the squall has developed well and is dropping some lightning.

If the models projecting high wind speeds end up being wrong again, then surely they can't be trusted in future situations. Serious doubts about their reliability.

So forecasts still 10-20 mph out in a lot of places. GFS not to be trusted it seems!

Driving rain and gusts lashing against the window outside here, more rain to come overnight which is now showing on radar to the south of Ireland.

Looks like the worst is yet to come. Very wet and likely disruption expected to anyone travelling early tomorrow morning.

There's a new splodge of rain coming across SE Ireland now.

UKV 15z run showing there's plenty more rain to come across England,  Wales and western Scotland tonight and into tomorrow.

ukv-overnight-sunday.gif

Rain totals from1500 this pm to tomorrow at 1500 (so some of this rain has already fallen, but still lots to fall which hasn't yet).

On holiday in Whitby and as luck would have me, my eyes weren’t kidding me! At least 2 big flashes off to the North. No thunder heard due to the screaming wind. Really packing a punch now!

We upgraded the precip type detection last Spring, and part of that really improved the detection of hail

the BBC keep showing the rain over SW UK overnight almost like a double squall line,., I wonder if that means we could see a few strikes of lightning over night o,o would be pretty awesome.. though not something I typically see in February ,.

Then tomorrow looks like colder air moving South... possibly thundery squall showers with hail on a lessening wind
