One hell of an atmospheric river of moisture upstream across the Atlantic all the way from Bahamas

Looks ominous and indeed models are indicating another wave of heavy rain to move in tonight ahead of the cold front - particularly affecting England and Wales. Worse of the rain still to come I think, particularly if further waves develop and delay cold front clearance southeastwards tomorrow.

Indeed!

Thankfully the environmental agency are forecasting that the rivers will peak below flood warning level. So im wondering if they think the rain has moved through quick

You have the whole of tomorrow for there to be heavy rain as well, plus the runoff from the mountains in the Lake District. However, It does look like the worst of the rain for you is gone so I agree with you. the worst of the rain for me is during tomorrow though, and I am expecting up to 25 or so ml!!

Winds have really picked up here too in the last hour or so. I have had multiple gusts of 50 mph and one or two around 55! (much higher than the met office forecast).

I think it’s too early to dismiss any flooding possibilities. Especially due to the lag effect of water reaching lower levels and there is also heavy rain forecast tonight/tomorrow morning. Not sure how far north it’ll reach, however.

Rainfall for the next 48hr, Not looking very good.. Stay save all those in flood prone areas and think ahead.

There is hope for Appleby during Storm Dennis, with river levels not expected to hit warning level.

The wind is definitely becoming a factor now.  Away from the usual spots on top of mountains, there's a lot of locations with over 100kph gusts, with Leeds Bradford at 117kph (73mph).

Winds have also climbed for the early hours especially for the South coast. There will be some big seas the S/W.

Wind has definitely gotten up and the rain has calmed down, but i expect conditions to worsen as the day progresses into the evening

Just put the Porthcawl livestream on, and it's showing a windspeed of 48mph.  Howling outside where I live too.

As the Australian I used to work with would say, "It's gettin' a mite blowie"

That doesn't surprise me as it's the highest airport in England.

I believe those are low level gravity waves

Just do a quick google image search for 'low level gravity waves radar'  quite a few similar looking examples.

EDIT Found the correct name for them
