Showers overnight falling as rain at first and then of sleet and snow pellets after midnight. Sunny intervals and brief showers of snow pellets so far this morning.

Turning very windy overnight. Some light to moderate rain towards dawn. Further intermittent light to moderate rain this morning. Wind gusting to gale force. Very windy with rain at times. The early afternoon saw a severe squall sweep through the area, producing gale to storm force winds and driving rain and hail. By mid afternoon a brief clearance arrived and the wind moderated a little.
