A surfer missing in Sussex has been found alive. Great. Now they can send the moron a bill for the callout for his stupidity.

You wont be lurking much longer if you are up on a roof tommorow

Even doors are getting windy ?

Doesn't look to bad people walking without issues.

Flipping hell! That child was extremely lucky not to be swept out just then.

Idiots. One of them just got knocked over by a wave, then went and did it again, ending up on his back in the water. Lucky he didn't get dragged into the sea.

I presume ciara was named  by the Irish metoffice ?

Shouldn’t the European storms all have a common name list and ones which everyone can easily spell!

Met Office, Met Éireann and the Dutch national weather service jointly named this seasons storms. The storm names got chosen by the public. Maybe the Dutch and Irish also have trouble pronouncing the more English names.

surely it’s not beyond the two organisations wit to use a list of names which both populations can spell!

By both populations do you mean Ireland and England? What about those lovely Welsh and Scottish names? Some of those names can be crackers to spell.

I think you are doing your fellow countrymen a disservice to suggest that they can't get their head around Ciara. It is fairly easy to spell if you want it to be.

We are taking a battering here in Lincolnshire, many trees reported as down and the latest from the police is that Burgh Le Marsh has a safety issue with the windmill and the area is closed. We have many mills in the area and I would not be surprised if it’s not the only mill suffering damage.

Impressive! Hoping it holds together over the hills just to see its power.

That looks like it's imminent here. It's getting dark again.

So far the most notable feature of this storm for me is it's longevity - the gales really started before 22:00 last night and have gradually ramped up since then, and we can expect to endure at least another 12 hours more.   We regularly see 40-50mph gales here and so the wind is not too serious - yet - but the gusts are probably exceeding 60mph now and the 12"+ thick branches of very large mature oak trees I can see are waving around like willows.  The rainfall so far has not been excessive by our standards either although I am sure the totals are mounting now.   However, the worst of this storm is not forecast to pass through here until around midday and I am expecting to see some more violent gusts before it all blows over.  Something is definitely loose on the roof - which I hope is just the vent pipe - but there's nothing I can do about it for now!!

Let’s hope the speedo on your car is more accurate

I think the recordings are accurate, it’s just the probability of the wind blowing at a decent rate in the split second the station takes the recording
