A surfer missing in Sussex has been found alive. Great. Now they can send the moron a bill for the callout for his stupidity.

You wont be lurking much longer if you are up on a roof tommorow

Even doors are getting windy ?

Has the storm moved north nick or is it on the same track as predicted yesterday please?

Not seeing anything to suggest any changes. The worst of the winds across southern Britain will likely be later this afternoon with a squall line expected to move through. Expecting sporadic 70-75mph gusts inland between 15:00 and 18:00.

Thank you Nick, certainly pretty wild out there, got football at 10:45 and I’m a goalkeeper, so that’ll be interesting to say the least.

I was thinking the same here in East Northants. Hardly any rain so far yet forecast is for moderate to heavy rain?

Unremarkable here in Surrey so far. Wind still has a large southerly component. I’ll be watching as the day develops though.

Currently in Kingston Upon Thames babysitting son’s kittens. Have only heard two planes at around 7am and nothing since. Normally there’s a regular stream as they come in to land.  Wind gusts in this built up area are getting very unsettling. In the meantime am getting reports from Beds/Cambs border of trees down and wishing I was there at home, in case the big trees close to my house land on the conservatory.

They are still coming over my house to Manchester although one I just saw on the webcam that one did a go around a few minutes ago.

Good job they cancelled a lot of flights from the London airports. I think the nearest suitable alternate airport from the London airports given the weather conditions would have been Manchester which has runways more aligned NE/SW but obviously the conditions here are still borderline. No way Manchester could have dealt with hundreds of diversions.

Just watched that, a TUI 787 aborted very early, it's a challenge to land in these sort of conditions. As you say Manchester's runway's are almost perfectly aligned for the storm so they're coming into a strong headwind. Obviously that doesn't offset the not inconsiderable gusts of wind that can catch them out.

I presume ciara was named  by the Irish metoffice ?

Shouldn’t the European storms all have a common name list and ones which everyone can easily spell!

Not a day to be a pilot or passenger! Hopefully everyone arrives safe and sound. Nothing is landing at Manchester now. The runway is still open but they're stacking them temporarily. That TUI 787 aborted. Heathrow, Gatwick and surrounding airports will be very difficult this afternoon.

Blowing a serious gale here just north of Bristol. Winds howling round the house. I have serious doubts my garden fence is going to make it through the day!
