Squall line went through with plenty of hail and heavy rain. Large temperature drop as well. 12.2C to 6.8C so far.

Sheffield United's match still on BTW

A line went through here bringing a small period of heavy rain. A new station record for sustained wind achieved, though. 31mph.

And in terms of a whole event #StormCiara running over five days is certainly worth the "hype" Wild yesterday in Scotland, Amber all day for most of England and Wales, which will have enabled people to consider their Sunday plans and adapt in time. More to come in westerlies tomorrow for SW and with snow further north.

What Brendon started, I'm certain Ciara will finish. That's the main railway line into Plymouth.

Ended up being in the doorway of the local Co-op when the squall passed through, similar scenes to tropical storm videos, visibility down to zero and lots of debris flying across the car park.

Some major surface water flooding on the way back home but not a lot of wind damage, that was good fun but nowhere near as bad as expected on the wind side of things here.

Squall line just passed over Belper. Looked to be dying on approach but then sprung back to life again. Very briefly there was torrential rain, hailstones and very gusty winds. At a guess I'd say 60mph. Strongest wind I have seen in Belper in a long time, probably since Doris. It's still blowing a gale now.

Some serious flooding up the Calder Valkey again, the canal, railway and roads are all rivers now near Hebden bridge

I don't believe the main squall line has arrived here yet. Apparently their are a number of them to pass through , some more potent than others,

91mph has been recorded at The Needles apparently.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it had

Looks like the crew of UAE17 have given up landing at MAN after two go-around's and are diverting to AMS instead.

Looks like we can put the ecm model in the bad books by overdoing the wind speeds, the peak of today's winds were in the morning which is odd considering the forecast was for them to increase throughout the day.

Conditions at Heathrow challenging. Watching big jet.tv live and am exceptionally grateful not to be a passenger today. So many last minute aborted landings and go around. Quantas 787 to Perth - QF10 has just had a tail strike on takeoff- is at 6,500 ft circling to come back in to assess/deal with damage.  Poor passengers; lets hope it gets down ok

Very strong wind gusts here. I went to Galley Hill and had coffee in the De La Warr. The wind has only strengthened since then, with some truly wild gusts across Bexhill. My fence is nearly destroyed...

Picture provided barely does the scene justice.

You seem determined to find fault with the models even though the worst is yet to come for the south.
