Made it to work

Couple of pub signs down, flooding on the Embankment by River Plym. And winds getting up here in City Centre

The squall line is passing over shrewsbury and it’s a constant roar outside... shawbury has had 50mph gusts but feels like more.

No one will be sleeping in town right now. Mad. House making all sorts of noises I don’t like.

Put a short clip on twitter....

Pretty wild here, woke up to drip drip coming though the bedroom ceiling! No slates off just rain being forced in. We're now at an impressive 80mm since yesterday evening!

Are they you're own figures? If not, where from please? I'm in northants, and it's definitely gusty , especially by our standards!

There’s been a lot of focus on the wind for this event but it looks like the rain and flooding will be a problem too. River levels responding rapidly in flood prone areas - e.g. Hebden Bridge.

I'm recording and decoding the very latest NOAA satellite image which is going right over the storm system as I type. Will upload the final pic here in a few minutes.

Currently in Kingston Upon Thames babysitting son’s kittens. Have only heard two planes at around 7am and nothing since. Normally there’s a regular stream as they come in to land.  Wind gusts in this built up area are getting very unsettling. In the meantime am getting reports from Beds/Cambs border of trees down and wishing I was there at home, in case the big trees close to my house land on the conservatory.

Widespread obs of 60+ gusts even inland and we're well off the worst of it yet. UKV has moved significantly towards the EC wind gusts (i.e. increased them) this morning. The EC has widespread 70-75mph gusts this afternoon and even hinting at 80s even inland.

Thank you so much you have just made my day.

Sadly not got much time to grab anything at the moment (have to put watermarks and copyright stuff on them). On shift this morning and roads forecasting is a pig with the sleety/snowy mess in the north later tonight  Although the fir trees surrounding our office are starting to concern me...

Not seeing anything to suggest any changes. The worst of the winds across southern Britain will likely be later this afternoon with a squall line expected to move through. Expecting sporadic 70-75mph gusts inland between 15:00 and 18:00.

Thank you Nick, certainly pretty wild out there, got football at 10:45 and I’m a goalkeeper, so that’ll be interesting to say the least.
