Just had the strongest gust so far here in Bexhill... must have been ~40mph

Lovely seaside weather here at Anchorsholme right now. I don't think I'll be able to stay here when high tide comes in later.

Nothing in terms of wind here but the back garden is looking as puddley as i've seen it in a while and there's still several more hours of rain to come.

Just to add the difference in forecasts is one of the biggest i've ever seen at just 12 hours out.The met are going for max gusts of 52 mph while the bbc have increased theirs to 68mph.

Not really that bad here in Wirral.. Consistent gusts of 30-40mph but no higher really. Its likely we won't breach 50-55mph even when the squalls go through as the wind is SWly. A moderate storm here I suspect rather than what most other places will be getting.

Wind gusting badly here, enough to wake me up in Plymouth. My bedroom is in the SW side so takes the brunt anyway but this is nasty so early on.

Not particularly windy here to be honest. It was much windier early.

I fell asleep for a couple of hours, but since then, the wind has become far stronger, and the gusts are getting quite wild already... Is it supposed to be this windy at this time?

Well here in Tunbridge Wells it's bloody gusty.. Lots of fence banging and things being knocked about... And as I'm sat here it  seems even in the last few minutes to be getting fiercer.

And we still have a long way to go until the peak wind gusts...

They probably won’t continue to increase this steadily though... Surely?

I think I'm just going to pop the washing in the dryer "in case" the power goes.

Here just north of Bristol I've been woken up by the wind sounding like a train outside. With the wind meant to gradually pick up for the next twelve hours here it's going to be a very interesting day. Stay safe people.

Surely John I would hope that any sporting events still on will now be cancelled.
