Winds are steadily increasing now, and the moonlight is almost totally obscured by cloud...

Maybe someone could explain to me, why with Amber Weather warnings in force with hurricane force winds expected to reach their peak during tomorrow afternoon. 3 televised football matches are due to take place :

Premier League

4.30pm - Manchester CityvWest Ham United

2pm - Sheffield UnitedvAFC Bournemouth

Sky Bet Championship

1.30pm - MillwallvWest Bromwich Albion

Is the weather going to avoid those areas? Surely this is fool hardy and dangerous simply in the pursuit of money?

I said the same about the PL games in the PL thread on Friday I think surely these games should be called off.

I guess £10million or whatever it is per TV game is a gamble worth taking unless health and safety folk step in.

It is strange isn't it. I expect most of them to be called off tomorrow morning, there's no way you can play in these conditions. All Belgian and Dutch top flight games have already been postponed.

I've questioned why the junior leagues near Burton havnt been postponed, Grandson is a star and I've provided all the info....

I expect a morning cancellation when Grandparents are already fighting their way there to look after the siblings...

Getting very breezy out there now and rain just started lashing on the windows. Time to try and get some sleep!

86mph in Capel Curig and to think that is only from the first cold-front that's moving through overnight.,storm Ciara is still offshore Ireland at this time.

Nice one Andy, I’m from Deiniolen (but live in Cardiff now). Both Deiniolen & Dinorwig get their fair share of extreme weather - looking forward to your weather reports!

Arctic mostly and high altitude.  But I have a couple of USA hurricanes under my belt. Also camp 2 Everest.

My favourite place to be is, by far, within the Arctic circle.

Daaaaaaaamn that wind is pickin’ up.

Tonight is a little like the summer, where I sleep with the window open, in the summer in the hope of thunder waking me, tonight it’s so I can hear the howl of the wind

All being well I’ll be off to the beach later for a battering

It was quite odd walking home at 11:30pm to hear the higher gusts which must have been around 5000ft or higher, sounding like a high-pitched whistle. Something i've not heard in a while and a ominous sign that once those winds hit ground-level in a few hours time, the damage reports will start coming in.

Yes I can here that too, a constant distant raw that is nothing to do with the gusts. Sound reminded me of something else.

definitely going to be the strongest ive experienced in a very long time i think, getting quite loud at times now and occasionally a bin falls over, had a few gusts i could certainly feel.

now to decide what time i should try to sleep to maximise the experience lol, im hoping for a good squall line tomorrow or today rather.

I saw a suggestion it was slightly further north which meant likely stronger winds through Central Scotland.
