They were diagnosed a while after coming in from China, the article is in its early stages so we don't know if they had chance to interact closely with many people before they got quarantined.

Hi fujita!

This is the problem many folk appear to be struggling with?

The fact we have asymptomatic spread means both spreader, walking into countries without knowing their status, but also their contacts who then pootle on with their 'normal' lives unaware they are also now part of our problems?

It's all well and good folk chiding about others putting out warnings when they themselves see no real reason for such but they will surely change their tune when they realise that the two weeks they were twittering about such were the same two weeks where a renewed National effort to avoid contact/spreading the virus would have saved lives?

As for the mail and denier nonsense? Of course I have posted such on here (and other places!!) but only to highlight its ludicrous nature!

But we do understand the concept of 'asymptomatic spread' Ian...It's precisely what I meant, when I referred to 'random immunity', all those weeks back...

And I'm quite sure that most folks have read stuff about Typhoid Mary?

Hi Pete!

I'm talking about the folk who appear to demand multiple cases/Deaths before they take it all seriously by which time they will have probably infected themselves?

One of the issues China is struggling with is the 'length' of the infection with cases tying beds up for 3 weeks or more.... how will our 'pods' cope with such or will attempts at 'isolation by distance' fall flat in a matter of weeks once the first glut of cases arrive?

and this....

The man was 80 years old. His daughter is recovering well.

With W.H.O. on the ground in China now (to check out conditions and impacts there) i imagine the Monday p.m. briefing will be very interesting!

NHS England just announced that all, but one of the nine who tested positive for coronavirus are now clear, and no longer infected. (source: ITV news just now)

I think they're highlighting that a 30 to 50 nm virii will get through a 'surgical' type mask? The N95 respirators (B.B. has a shed load if you need any?) , with tighter weave and valve, will keep the little beggar out!

Further to add, and this is encouraging, the following seems to emphasise what a number of docs, viraologists and other medical experts have been saying on British TV over last week or so about the virus:

In a statement, the group of five who were treated at the Royal Free Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital in London, said: "All of our group, including the six in other countries, have recovered quickly from the virus having required minimal medical treatment during our time in isolation.

"We understand the virus can be dangerous for some, but we also want to share the important facts of our situation to help reassure people."

It remains puzzling why China has been hit so hard. Because a big pool of cases built up before they did anything much?  Or what?

Don’t want to be lulled into a false sense of security

Still think the shared air conditioning system on board may have a role to play.

I was of the opinion that one elderly Chinese passenger gave his virus to a maid and all of this came from that contact but B.B. was of the opinion that the virus was so widespread in the Far East that every time they docked and went ashore more folk picked up a dose?(or so I understood him to be saying?)

If it was just from the one elderly guest then he's got one hell of an 'R0' number after his name!
