North Atlantic Storms

Storm Doris was worrying...I nearly got taken out by a 2mx1m piece of wall cladding that got ripped off the school building as I walked across the playground at lunchtime! And last year's Storm Erik kept me awake all night! I live right next to a railway line and the roar from the wind just sounded like the longest train in the world travelling by!

I am excited by the thought of some stormy weather but I really don't want anyone to be injured or have their homes/businesses wrecked...or worse!

Who else thinks these back to back North Atlantic storms are just part of a new state of normal for our weather in the UK?

With the 'Polar Night Jet' behaving this year (if breaking records for its wind speeds?) we are getting a glimpse at just where ,and what, our weathers should be like over winter I reckon?

We've seen temp records being set across our Hemisphere so far this winter and now we get to see the approaching spring 'Coming in like a Lion'....... i just hope it goes out like a Lamb!!!!

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a wind warning issued for tomorrow as a very deep area of low pressure currently over the Atlantic sweeps across the UK.

Although this system will be filling over us there still remains a tight pressure gradient and powerful wind field, some slight model disagreement with the exact track and max wind gusts. Very windy day for many tomorrow.

I tend to find that that model over does the wind speeds to quite a large amount most of the time.

Hurricane force winds around the deep Atlantic low which will bring strong winds and coastal gales to Ireland and the UK on Friday, continuing for Scotland on Saturday. Yellow warnings for Ireland and Northern Ireland at the moment.
