Looking like severe gales for many parts of Scotland, N.England on Tuesday, January 7th. 

BIG storm mid-Atlantic currently forming.

The Western Isles of Scotland have already seen strong winds today most places there reported gusts over 60mph with Barra being the highest at 75mph reported between 6am and 7am. Tomorrow is looking worse so I wouldn't be surprised to see a gust over 80mph somewhere.

The weather warnings look a bit strange, they're missing the western central belt but include much of the east.Where i am is under a warning even though i'm not within the yellow warning zones. 

 

Looks like 50-60 mph quite widely with 65-75 mph in exposed areas.

Highest gusts from the Western Isles this morning 74mph from Benbecula airport and 75mph from Barra airport.

Barra airport reached a gust of 82mph around midday.
