Had a bit of an extended lunch-break to go on a snow-hunt today (one of the small pleasures of being self-employed!).  South of about Lesmahagow there was a smattering on low ground, but decent-looking cover on the hills.  Surprisingly dry and powdery as it turns out! Didn't have time to take a proper walk up Tinto, but went round to the quiet side of the hill on the back road to Wiston and spent an hour or so wandering up one rise which goes up to 400m or so a.s.l. and then down the other side. ?

Back up the M74, and quickly back to bright sunshine and green fields after the monochrome world of the Southern Uplands!

I'm feeling pretty snow starved here in Cheshire, these pictures are beautiful and cheered me up, I'm still hopeful for some snow before the season is out. 'Always look on the white side of life'

The snow still hasn't come to anything beyond a slushy mess at the house so we went to the snow. At the small car park at the top of Glen Ogle it was proper snow with a few inches on the ground. By th

Tornado threat tomorrow (Texas) upgraded to moderate risk then also further east toward Alabama on Saturday, potential for some strong tornadoes.

Yes some scary chat about the tornados occurring at night potentially and they are 50 per cent more deadly in darkness.

Cracking day, max of 4c with light winds and plenty sunshine.

Proper winter's night, clear skies and currently -5.6c with hoar frost - everything sparkling in the moonlight.

Reckon Whitehouse, which is down the road a couple of miles, will be -9C or lower.

The Met Office current temperatures forecast is for -4C. ?

Only -8C according to my car as I passed through at 8am. 3C colder than at my house, but not usual as it's normally colder in valley.

10am and still -7C at the house. Tomorrow, according to the Met Office, temperatures up to 9C.

-5C at 10am - having to address frozen car-door locks with some warm water.

Apart from that, it's a clear sunny day with great visibility.

Twentieth air frost at -1.4°C.

Took a couple of shots using nightlight on my Pixel 3 last night. Seems to be a competent system.

Yep - was pitch black. Hand held and I was out of breath climbing up the back garden. The phone requires you to stay still for about 4 seconds whilst it does its wizardry.

Overnight low here of -7.4c and its only now just gone over 0c thanks to the cloud that is rolling in.

Early morning was glorious with plenty sunshine and temperatures well below freezing.

Light winds throughout.
