Some more pics from this morning in the Lomond Hills. Just the most sublime colours at sunrise. We had 12cm this morning, sunny all day except for a slight freshening up in the afternoon, now -0.7C an

Standing an impressive 5ft 5in tall - the kids have done well with limited resources ?

The snow still hasn't come to anything beyond a slushy mess at the house so we went to the snow. At the small car park at the top of Glen Ogle it was proper snow with a few inches on the ground. By th

Not much to add really. Today was cool and mostly cloudy with afternoon temperatures around 14c. Pretty grim for August. And that’s nothing compared to tomorrow’s horror show.

I normally try to accentuate the positive but this August has been dire and the summer overall a poor one.

Och well here we go.

Meanwhile down here near Kirkcudbright it felt warm in the sun today out of the wind. Warm enough that loads of people were in for a swim this afternoon. Tomorrow looks a bit different though.

Another autumnal day, getting a bit annoying now...

Max of 14.5c, dry but extensive cloud bar some sunny periods in the morning.

Light winds, starting to freshen this evening.

No outdoor work tomorrow looking at the forecast.

Today is the first day in quite some time that I've not been able to sit with the patio doors open, instead, I've put the heating on tonight. Dogs' equafleeces looked out for their walk tomorrow, I have a feeling they're going to need a bath too but shhh, don't tell them!

Feel for all those in Stonehaven who are still recovering from the flooding 2 weeks ago as it looks like they'll be hit again tomorrow ☹️

Oh come on, you know it would end up cold but a sleety mess at best.

Uppers would be a bit marginal..😂😂😂😂

As for todays weather.. utterly awful just like the entire summer here really, it has been awful and I'm struggling to see it getting any better if I'm honest.

Looks like I may have to switch the underfloor heating on this week. The temperature inside has dropped below 20c heating is set at 18c so could imagine it will drop down and kick the heating on over night tonight.

Mrs Snaw has been baking again.

Somebody make it stop! Lashing rain has now given way to horizontal drizzly pish in a strong wind! It's freezing and the lights have been on in the house for about 3hrs now! Hideous! I have to keep reminding myself it's August!!

Summer really is going out with a whimper.

Copious rain, howling gale, max of 13c (that before the rain started mid-morning).

Kids moaning about the cold and getting homework from school.

Not a day to remember!

Not much I can add to what's already been said except, not only did we record 26mm of rain, my lockdown weight gain was worse than i expected. Line drawn and I'm hoping to shed a lot of it by the time we get our first snow...although if the temperature today is the start of a downward trend, that might not be as far off as I'd like!

That's a lot of rain you have had, we've just passed 100mm here making August the 3rd wettest month since last August after Nov and Feb.

Edit: a few pics from the Lammermuirs yesterday on a little random drive:

Not to bad a day today some bright spells and very calm. Shame its all down hill again tomorrow.

If I had to sum up the weather it would go something like.

Enjoy your 2 weeks in the sun and the rest is December. Gerry Cinnamon.
