Some more pics from this morning in the Lomond Hills. Just the most sublime colours at sunrise. We had 12cm this morning, sunny all day except for a slight freshening up in the afternoon, now -0.7C an

Standing an impressive 5ft 5in tall - the kids have done well with limited resources ?

The snow still hasn't come to anything beyond a slushy mess at the house so we went to the snow. At the small car park at the top of Glen Ogle it was proper snow with a few inches on the ground. By th

Quite pleasent sitting outside working here, 26/27c but with a nice breeze. I've been watching the cumulus starting to become more widespread and grow a little higher, let's hope that's a good sign for later....

Edit: it's 28c, need to get a new weather station!

Fog and low cloud cleared about an hour ago very humid and 19c.  Come inside  this afternoon as sun very strong. Got all domestic grasses and garden dutch hoed this morning if we are in for a spell of wet weather. Even cut a few acres for hay Was going  to cut more but forecast put me off . Can wrap it for hayledge Sunday/Monday if weather really poor. Will go out again in the evening to do some more outside jobs when it cools off.

29.5c on the A77 at Ayr according to traffic Scotland, surely Prestwick is heading for 30/31c!

Some showers breaking out soon maybe? Lots of lightning going to waste out at sea currently!

Quite a lot of clouds bubbling up now and I wouldn't be surprised if some develop into showers.

You would assume that unless the cloud becomes an issue that it'll break 30C, maybe 31C? The airport is reporting a SEly breeze so as long as that stays on land then why not?

I am not sure if that's rare for Prestwick but I would assume it is...

18th & 19th July 2006 were 30C & 31C

16th July 2003 30C

28th June 1995 30C

2nd July 1976 32C

4th August 1975 31C

29th & 30th July 1948 32.4C & 31.1C

That 32.4C is only 0.5C short of the record for Scotland.

There was a big gap in the record between 61 and 73, but still only 8 examples of 30C in 60 odd years.

Warm here in the inland NE. Widely 24C late morning and early afternoon as we drove to Inverurie and back for the bi-weekly 'bug' food shop. A cooling breeze has developed now but still sheltering in the North facing conservatory with the windows open until it cools a little.

Yep, it's up to 29.8c now on that traffic scotland station, although not official it'll still be a decent weather station I would imagine. It's also up to 29.4c on the M77 near Newton Mearns (my closest station) and rising faster since the breeze has died down.

30.1 on Dutch House Roundabout one.

Cloud building across the south-west now as can be seen on the satellite loop so the temps probably won't get much higher. You can see the storms to the North-West too!

With the wind it really doesn't feel that warm.

Given how close Prestwick is to the sea 30c is quite remarkable - and it's not the first time it's happened. I wonder if there's a micro climate there that contributes to higher temperatures or perhaps it's just down to a favourable wind direction.

31c here now...the Glasgow temperature will be reported much lower as Glasgow AP is a bit cooler. At least somewhere official has reached 30c ?

I am inland a bit from the Ayrshire coast but it really is feeling exceptionally hot. No sea breeze here.

I've put an old mercury thermometer in the shade and it's at 29c.

The patio doors have expanded to the point they barely fit the frame. Don't get that very often.

Within 5 minutes a cloud has built up pretty well becoming darker too with other towering cumulus building surrounding it. Need to see if this builds a bit more as it heads northwards over Glasgow and beyond
