Anybody in here know much about Ardclach as an area to live? Have had a look and at 172m asl it seem like its ideal so just after any insight on the area.

Yes snow will lie there more often than at my level mainly because you are far enough away from the seas influence.School bus turns just up the  road at Glenferness before the moors at the point where wet snow at sea level becomes dry powder snow. Even if it does not snow at Ardclach you are just minutes away from the moor road to Carrbridge with its own snowy winter microclimate when nowhere else in the area has snow.Remember in February 2009 coming back from one of many Glasgow trips at that time in -17c temperatures at Carrbridge and seeing five cars off the road one overturned on the moor road. Can stiil see numerous broken trees from the heavy snow of November/December 2010

Well broken cloud is allowing a bright start to the day even although the ground is wet following overnight rain.

Temperature 8.9deg.C down from a maximum of 10.3deg.C at 00:09, relative humidity is 96%, there's no wind, again, pressure is 992.7hPa and there's been 3mm of rain since midnight.

I took a few pics early in the evening IMG_20201005_194549.thumb.jpg.98bc824ded5edcf9f3e0cb03265cea95.jpgIMG_20201005_194550.thumb.jpg.0574520548783c0ea8879b2d47e53414.jpg

No doubt another night of it tonight!? I can understand its required for safety measures etc but it's the frequency and intensity of it that's iffy for me, including whatever is being pumped into the atmosphere of course

I was out for lunch today but it wasn't either warm or dry enough to eat outside although it was nice enough for a walk afterwards.

Temperature currently 11.5deg.C down from a maximum of 13.3deg.C at 13:07, r.h. is 90%, there's no wind, pressure is 996.4hPa, there's now been 3.4mm of rain since midnight and the variable broken cloud throughout the day has now consolidated in unbroken cloud.

The glow it casts is bonkers, especially when there's low cloud. We're ten miles away here but on the worst days, even here, it sounds like there's an idling tractor behind the house. Must be an endless nightmare for folk in Cowdenbeath, Crossgates and Lochgelly etc.

Dull, blustery and damp this morning but mild.

Temperature dropped from a maximum of 10.4deg.C at midnight to a minimum of 9.2deg.C at 05:52, which shows a distinct lack of effort, and is now 9.7deg.C, r.h. is 93%, there's a gusty breeze from the east that maxed out at 12mph earlier, pressure is 1007.5hPa rising and there's been 0.6mm of rain since midnight.

A mixed day so far, beautiful blue skies this morning and calm, now replaced by grey clouds with the odd spot of rain and the wind has picked up too.

Pubs to close again apparently. Quick everybody panic buy booze...

You've got the opposite of what I've got; now brightening up nicely and good enough for a panic buying shopping trip. Will four bottle carriers be enough?

Most agreeable day.

Max of 13c, dry, variable cloud with some decent sunny spells in the afternoon.  Wind mainly light.

It might be just me, but the autumn colours this year are stunning. Deep oranges and browns everywhere just now driving around Tweeddale.

Cool days, plenty of sunshine, showers, risk of frost/fog.

Cold up on the mountains:

Planning Outlook

Chilly into the weekend and beyond as north to northwesterly winds prevail. Higher mountains in Scotland near or below freezing for several days. Frost some nights in valleys and glens. Changeable conditions, with showers of hail or sometimes snow on the Munros. Away from showers, the air very clear and cloud breaking to higher tops. Winds varied, occasionally up to gale force giving significant chill factor. Pressure starts to build from the west, although it may be midweek before this extends widely across Britain.

All the best to you all.

Could be a little bit of snow for the highest peaks in the highlands and the north west then tomorrow lots of showers for pretty much everyone and with the cooler air could be some hail along with some rumbles of thunder,  as the attached skew t charts for Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness show 400+ CAPE https://images.meteociel.fr/im/1835/anim_vss5.gif for some reason it’s not showing as normal but that’s the gif of the showers. 45F9AB4D-B5B2-4457-9D1E-5E74FF79EFC2.thumb.png.97aad04ac8d67a47a95b5b1a0de81c8d.png9129B7BE-660E-436C-9B4B-71E86D647083.thumb.png.f73f6e3dd4e18d9dfb40020aa4f5e7ba.pngAB0BBA16-7E70-4AF6-B63C-F2B9E875C290.thumb.png.31a6ebdfb226f380c4f91260d34f1151.png

Not a bad day here so far various amounts of cloud but some good sunny spells too. Not feeling very warm but not cold either. The wind does feel a little bit cold though so maybe the first real winter feel to things.

One of the snaw children asked me this morning if its going to snaw soon? Ive told him im working on it..lol.

@Kirkcaldy Weather as long as those showers are of the thundery variety!

Plenty of sunshine here today and the odd light shower - most of the action passing to my North.

Working from home now for the remainder of the year - hopefully some interesting weather to look out the window at during work hours!  November/December snowfall would be perfect.

Just had a really heavy shower pass through here. Went from blue sky and sunshine to dark and heavy rain in the matter of seconds. Wind was wild for about 60 seconds, was something to watch too.

Largely à very nice day with it feeling warm in the sun after a chilly start. Did pick up a heavy shower just as I got home from work, but not quite as impressive as the one @Mair Snawdescribed.

Could see a frost here in the morning as the stars are out and it's pretty chilly. Just stood outside staring up for a bit but no sign of any Draconoid (?) meteors. Is that Mars that's been shining brightly roughly to the East the past week or so?

A gorgeous sunny morning here after overnight rain. Temp up to 7C now. Cold enough for that rain to have been snow on the higher hills last night. Here is Ben Lawers this morning.
