Wife and I are just back from a full Gortex clad hour long walk with the dog and it was a predictably soggy experience. Temp currently 7C according to the guy up the roads weather station but I am surprised as it didn't feel that cold.

Now up to 19.5mm of rain since 8am,and as you say we're not even in the Amber warning time period yet.

If only I had full Gortex! Yesterday was the day I discovered my waterproof jacket was no longer waterproof but my muck boots kept my feet dry so that’s something at least. The dogs were suitably unimpressed and, funny enough, wouldn’t pose for a photo. This is also when I hate that I have no option but to wear glasses all the time!

82.55mm recorded yesterday, more than the monthly average for October.

The rain started 8am yesterday morning, roughly, so with an hour left to go, in the last 24hrs the weather station just up the road has recorded approximately 85mm of rain. Compare that to the combined total for Aug & Sept of 97mm.

I was right with you last night. Love a tempranillo. Not so sure this morning.

Judging by everyone's reports I seem to have got off lightly. The ground is wet but the rain stopped an hour or so ago having produced 36.4mm since 10am yesterday. the wind is very light from the northwest, temperature is 12.8deg.C up from a mild minimum of 8.7deg.C at midnight, pressure is 983.7hPa rising slowly and relative humidity is 97%. There is wall to wall cloud cover, low, thick and dark grey.

Dull dreich and  very wet here for the second morning in a row though mild at 13.5c.

Still have 8 swallows buzzing in and out of the sheds this morning so still a trace of summer. Cows starting to calve after a very slow start probably due to the terrible weather in late October early November last year.

I've always taken my rain gauge readings with a pinch of salt but that's actually reassuring. I've recorded 60mm here since yesterday morning.

Aboyne recorded 83mm as did Dyce. I see Sambughetto in the Italian Piedmont recorded 630mm in 24 hours. It’s at altitude but even so that’s a scary amount of water!

We were well west of the warning area and still managed at least 40mm of rain, that would still have been a decent  dumping of rain if the front came in from the west! I like heavy rain ☔

Well the rain has finally stopped and the sun is making a valiant attempt to break through the cloud. In the end the nearest weather station to me recorded over 90mm since yesterday morning. A quick check of others in the local area (Alford, Kennethmont, Tillyfourie) on Wunderground showed that some recorded well over 100mm. Obviously enthusiast's stations, not official, so need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Still, that's a lot of rain.

@Ravelin the has finally stopped here too and as you say the sun is trying its hardest. How long will it last? Going on the BBC forecast the next week is sunshine and showers so we may get some decent days.

We were probably saved by how dry it was in September.

All very average over this way but a very decent month for yourself and many others! (October has already made up for that of course)

We almost recorded a below average September. (Scotland)

Personally the only months of the year I want well below average are November, December, January and February!
December 2009, January 2010, February 2010, November 2010 and December 2010 for example!

Would also take a March 2013 or 2018!

Light showers on and off all day here. Not cold by any means but still a bit of a breeze.

Another great win for the mighty Hammers. Might even have a celebratory drink or two later..

A memorable 24hours of rain followed by a generally dry day with light winds and even a few glimpses of the sun - max of 13.5c.

Bad as it was, there was critically a lull in the rainfall rate around midnight - if that hadn't occurred then I'm convinced the local flood record for the Don would have been broken...

Yesterday cleared up nicely; stopped raining at noon and by 2pm the sky had cleared to allow a bright, sunny afternoon. This morning it's clouded over again and the ground is damp. Chilly too.

Temperature currently 6.7deg.C after an overnight low of 4.6deg.C at 06:27, r.h. is 98%, there's no wind, pressure is 993.9 rising slowly, and there's been 0.2mm of rain since midnight.

For once this part of the west seems to have missed the worst.

Really heavy showers so far with the last one giving 8mm in about 10 mins had 14.5mm so far, also the flaring from Mossmorran was the worst I'd seen in quite a while they really need to get that sorted out

Read about it being viewable from Alloa overnight. They've had so many warnings....

Soggy Saturday in the woods:

Another decent day that brightened up by lunchtime and allowed me to have my lunch outside, which was really warm when the sun shone through the gaps in the clouds. Maximum temperature was 16.0deg.C at 13:09 and the wind never got above a very light breeze. October has been quite friendly here so far.
