Looks like a wee thin line of showers heading up from the south. Wonder if they get electrified.............

Similar to the met office warnings always like cutting it off just as it approaches here  F44DF918-5444-4154-AF98-FB4720294B9A.thumb.jpeg.e9078027394c01843b1ddb6f8dc6c02c.jpeg

Here comes the first band of rain. Looks quite weak on radar though the 2nd band looks punchier then got that lot over Liverpool I think. Gonna be a long few days of radar and sky watching me thinks ;)

Looks like Glasgow will get something overnight.  Our chance comes tomorrow (maybe).

It’s about to pour down here, it’s a shame it’s only heavy rain. Very humid now so hopefully something moves up from the south later.

Main action still coming through later - roughly between midnight and 04:00! (Delayed a bit from earlier outlook)

Few snapshots from the 12z run earlier:

As ever with thunderstorm forecasting - might all vanish or be in a totally different location when these times arrive!  Worth a wee look at these though.

I think it’s just a question of will it be thundery rain, thunderstorms galore or bog standard rainfall!?
And of course...can we stay awake!?

Real risk of some torrential downpours at times - hopefully no flooding issues!

Interesting radar watching later tonight!

All the best.

Really anywhere throughout Scotland could catch some storms at some point through this week with troughs and fronts moving around in the unstable atmosphere and some massive amounts of CAPE, I’m thinking anywhere that does get storms could be some big lightning producers maybe tonight / overnight something for u finally @Mr Frost

Thank you.

Sky darkening again ahead of next downpour which has just begun. Looking at the radar, it’s going to be a fairly sharp shower so fingers crossed for pyrotechnics

Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE) is measure of the amount of energy available for convection. CAPE is directly related to the maximum potential

These are very high amounts through this week for UK standards, a regular thundery shower u would probably have a couple of hundred and for our typical thunderstorms maybe somewhere around 500-1000 but some areas even into Scotland could see 2000+ so lots of energy for big storms but of course that isn’t the only ingredient required u also need a trigger like troughs or fronts which will be around this week it’s pinpointing areas which is needle in haystack territory  0C8C0C41-1F20-45B6-BBDC-C131EA2BB182.thumb.png.04db37c22e57c6c0bbaec634b9fc07eb.png8842B1C2-DC6A-4FFB-9E01-B57CD81F80A2.thumb.png.06ba2bb4aa2360b632896acdb5f35c55.png

Thank you for explaining, the terminology is very new to me but I’m a keen learner!

I assuming this weather tonight (if it arrives) could be brewing in the midlands that looks like some corker of a shower there

I am not sure I've ever seen 6 hour rainfall totals for thunderstorms as high as this on the Euro4:

I still wouldn’t take the positioning literally but I think it’s that trough it barely moves through tomorrow F1D2C08C-15E0-4916-A9A6-1A53B9381440.thumb.png.9b02fc2640a1364bb686f1b34e1748d5.png2D428897-5D7A-421E-A9BE-130EA17704A4.thumb.png.4a539ecfa43dccaea8a0255125e7dbf0.png

Always good to see the top man mention thundery!

Not so good news regarding flooding though - hopefully that does not happen.

@NUT Keep an eye on this lot.

Those storms look to be dying a death when I ‘animate’ it on the netweather radar but we shall see

Mostly cloudy here today with a shower this evening that caught us out while out for a stroll. Sky looked thundery but didn't come to much? Followed by an amazing sunset  that our phone did not do justice to.

Is this lot going to have the legs to make it here tomorrow?  It seems to make a NE turn tomorrow looking at Met forecast.  Some of you are going to get a real show.

More cloud today compared to yesterday, certainly none of the beautiful Cirrus that was here yesterday afternoon...

Snag_10a036d.thumb.png.e297725d42abe16cc1f328d5815973bf.png

Max of 20c but felt warmer than that when the hazy sunshine was around.

Humidity levels rising as well over the day.

Surprised to see my breath outside just now, even with a outside temperature of 11c.

Met office giving us a 30% chance of a light rain shower tomorrow!

Just love these automated forecasts....

I hope the lightning keeps up when it move across the border.

Huge storm over Wales right now also.

Feels about as far away from any thunder as possible here (Paisley), quite cool and a fresh northerly breeze.

Oh glad to hear someone else experienced that. I pointed it out to colleague this afternoon in West Lothian as we were stood outside talking.
