Is anyone else disappointed in today's weather?

Wind has picked up here, mainly cloudy with slight hints of blue sky, currently 20c and ok for sitting outside to eat my dinner but definitely not the day I thought it was going to be.  Only plus has been being able to sit at my desk (dining room table) with the patio doors open behind me.  It was reasonable when I nipped out to the shops at lunchtime but certainly didn't develop into the kind of day I thought it would.

Hello everyone, haven’t been here for a while! Hope everyone is doing OK in these strange times.

Some ominous rumbling sounds on the outskirts of Glasgow at the moment - could be in for a deluge.

Starting to look VERY black to the south and west of me I'd be surprised if there's no storm on the way (can upload pics if you want)

Thunder and lightning seem to have stopped abruptly and looks to be dieing off on radar! Good while it lasted

Yes just heavy rain here in East Kilbride now. My 9 year old son text me from home saying he saw some lightning and heard loud thunder. He was very excited

The storm did produce a few flashes and bangs which was a nice way to end a day in the garden. Coming in for thunder & lightning is much better than just plain rain.⚡️?

My wife has been DJing via Spotify with storm & rain songs which has been entertaining. Might ask her to compile it on a playlist and send it to you for those on Spotify.

First photo is the birds waiting for us to depart the garden so they can access the feeders. Last photo is of the storm clearing. It looks like the lights have been turned back on here.

Very wavy unsettled looking sky here, not sure if those storms in the west will get here tho. IMG_20200731_202322.thumb.jpg.a07ee51922b8a5f48900d34cf347bab8.jpgIMG_20200731_202314.thumb.jpg.131bd2feedaa795bfab3c83c971ac3f7.jpgIMG_20200731_202217.thumb.jpg.302f21043bfa69f930def4d3bb17d009.jpg

Playlist for rain & storms. Apologies if you don't use Spotify!

Marie likes the challenge of being thrown a subject and forming a playlist. The most random one was 'Animal Husbandry'. It was delivered.

Well we got to the beach and it was packed, no social distancing going on at all, so we turned around and came back and went to the park then pub instead. Weather has been nice. Not overly hot and always that wind taking the edge off of the temperature. Tomorrow looks like a wash out and no real sign of any hot weather in the next few weeks. Will soon be turning my thoughts to the coming Autumn and then Winter when the hunt for the white gold starts.

We may just miss it and with a field of hay lying which would not have been ready today as still green in bits I am back to gambling on this missing us and getting a second dry day tomorrow.

Managed to capture around fifteen swifts screaming round the house in one photo a real sound of high summer especially with thundery looking cloud in the shot.007.thumb.JPG.3a9107e1f6e5b3ae0568de701747f2e3.JPG

Not to be on the thunder front but some mental rain and quite gusty winds just went through ⛈

One flash and bang around midnight I think. Now up and drinking tea because the cat was crashing around yowling, thought it must be a mouse or something  serious by the sound of the drama. Got up, and oor fearless hunter was chasing a moth. Didn't catch it.

Keep the faith mate!

Warmth returns up there soon - especially over in the Moray area through this Wednesday to Friday/Saturday at least.
Charts look decent for low to mid twenties.

I also noticed you are now only 70 meters above sea level!? Risky one for Winter... I thought you always made an effort to position yourself up between 100/150 meters?

You need those @Northern Strath @Ravelin @shuggee (few others) heights nowadays.

Edit: Great clip above @NUT - can see that strike must have been quite close as you got a fright at the very end.

@Mr Frost sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. And did still manage to find the highest part of the area and exposed to the wind. but a newly refurbished steading so no trouble with heating it during winter months. Still planning for the ultimate move one day 300m asl in the Highlands..

And in weather news over night rain has cleared and some sunshine has developed but looks only temporary as more rain incoming for this afternoon. At least the footie is back on and FA Cup final later..
