That burst of rain came over us but as usual seemed to explode as it moved away from here. Been quite a wet day but not like yesterday morning

Quite a few rumbles to my South right now and getting closer. Must be somewhere over Fife at present? Dark skies to the South though rain has eased.

edit. Spoke too soon. The heavens have just opened and the low black cloud is here nowalong with thunder but haven't seen any lightning yet through the gloom.

I was on a zoom call but a few lightning strikes and loud rumbles of thunder here in Pittenweem. Rain was heavy for a while too, now clearing away northwards.

Some sheet lightning to my North West now so it has maybe passed here too now.

Edit. Looking back not too much activity here but the two of the individual green strikes were quite close to me.

I forgot to add this pic from the storm the other night. I didn’t realise at the time that some power cables were getting in the shot

The heat's defo gone goodbye. Breezy and had a fair amount of rain. What a complete contrast from wednesday and thursday. Looks like a bit of a meh week. Nothing really exciting to look at weatherwise (and no 31 degrees this week whatsoever) ;)

Just back from a walk and it feels more like early October out there than late June. Cool and windy with light rain on and off. As @NUT says a pretty uninspiring week coming up by the looks of things. Unfortunate as I’m on holiday! I guess I’ll be painting the hall after all.

Fine wet day for neeps grass and crops.and made a late night last night worthwhile getting some hay

This evening a bit of clearance with some vivid cloud and sky colours. I wonder if all these great cloudscapes , sunsets and colours are the result of a less polluted atmosphere this spring/early summer.  Currently 15c

Not a great day but managed a cycle up the Pentlands. Managed to capture this before it disappeared during a brief shower!

Mostly cloudy here with just a few showers. Cooler with max of 15.2C. Windy though, especially pm with restrictions on the road bridge.

Vile, so so wet (nearest station is at 33mm in last 36 hours)

Nightshift this evening and confirm it feels very autumnal.
Looks like it’ll relax midweek and hopefully we move into a warmer pattern thereafter

Like many others I've taken to trying my hand at growing stuff during the lockdown.

Everything was going well, all 6 of my cherry tomato plants had started flowering, but this weather.......woke up yesterday to find one had blown clear of it's supports and snapped at the bottom. 7-10 days of cool, wet weather really isn't good for my tomatoes, peppers or chillies

The broccoli meanwhile...it's looking amazing...organic broccoli all round by September I think!

Need sunshine back asap

Just had a short torrential downpour here with accompanying flash of lightning and clap of thunder. Seems to be isolated as it's the only rumble we've heard, much to the puppy's relief.

Some impressive looking thunderstorms brewing up around us.

Going to be very local in nature looking at the radar but impressive cloudscapes nonetheless.

Currently 16c and very light winds.

Third day of thunder this month but I didn't see the funnel cloud myself this time.

What looks from the radar à locally brewed thunderstorm moving towards me from the North, around Insch. Rain has just come on after a few well spaced rumbles of thunder.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
