Looks like the fun and games over for this heatwave all the thundery stuff clearing off to the north. Least some of us got something out of it I guess ;)

Hmm, my interest is piqued.

In last half hour, the skies to the south have gotten darker and a lot of cloud has started to bubble up.  Makes a change from the high level haze of the last few days!

Now the wait to see if there's some crash bang action, temperature starting to drop as now "only" 25.9c.

Oh well, another bust in terms of crash bang action.

Cloud built up a bit more after that entry but soon drifted off to the north to leave a absolutely gorgeous evening of clear blue skies and sultry temperatures (even now still 16.1c).

Haar has rolled in over the last hour or so, tis the curse of the east coast.

EDIT

Have a look at the Highlands and Islands Weather Facebook site, some cracking videos and photos from the storms there the last couple of days.  This photo is stunning...

Storms just arriving here.  A few rumbles and lightning approaching from the SE.

Thunderhaar .

Yep, trademark that one.

Lovely short and sharp thunderstorm here until 06:15.  Not that you could see much thanks to the fog.

We were just on the western side of the storm line so it went over pretty quick but over by Peterhead there must have been a spectacular show.

Kids now wide awake and refusing to go back to bed.  So much for the hope of a long lie

Aye, despite tracking right over us all we could see we're vague flashes in the heavy mist, even with the closer ones (2/3 sec flash to thunder gap). At least the associated heavy rain will save me from needing to water the borders in the garden today.

It was the puppy's first experience of a thunderstorm and it seems like she's going to be a cuddler, unlike our previous Lab who'd just have ignored it.

Yup been pretty lively. Think I heard the first distant rumble about 0455. Didn't see any lightning too misty. Main action just after 5am to about 6am then occasional claps after that, some pretty loud whilst the cell was passing over! Still raining (thought I heard the occasional ping of hail as well but mainly rain). Still raining now & cloudy but not heard any thunder for about 15mins or so.

Morning all,

Haar is back again, 14c/14c. I’ll be glad to turn the page on this June, just 100 hours of sunshine recorded so far. Makes me appreciate  again just how bad the haar fest of 2007 was with 75 hours of sun for the whole month and the temperature didn’t reach 20c on any day!

We had a short spell of blue skies then back to grey and now a very heavy but short burst of rain.

Yeah it was weird, can't say I've ever experienced that. There was cloud below us and above us, with that eerie yellow light, and then pinkish haar came rolling up the hill accompanied by rain, lightning and thunder. Really odd. Couldn't take my eyes off it!

The storm was off to the west over Kinross, but it certainly looked the part from here
