The more active part is on the east side of it and barely moving.

I can see the cell going up near Kilbirnie, that may have given the earlier rumble, otherwise is must have been elevated.

Once again it's groundhog day - calm and waves of Haar......

Well that is this evening and first thing in the morning.

In between we saw this - hurrah!

Max temperature of 21c and quite a strong SE wind for a time in the early afternoon otherwise the calm conditions mentioned earlier.

I blame the Met Office!

At least it was a convective day!  (Just not overhead)

Sunset was decent.

This sums it up.,.

Convective weather has a slight risk tomorrow for the usual areas.

Someone might get a thunderstorm during the early hours - more likely now though is drizzle/rain!

Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

You have to laugh...thunder and lightning has been recorded since 02:00 right up until the last hour...

Here are my personal favourites which I managed to sleep through between 03:45 and 04:00!  (Strikes within seven to ten miles of my location at times - clear view of all this from a eight minutes drive down the road. )

Hopefully someone seen the Firth of Clyde light up!

Warming up again later with the risk of a thunderstorm for a few of us.

<Drum roll>

After four and a half days the haar has finally lifted from here. I mean it’s partly cloudy and only 14c with the wind off the sea but amazing just how less depressing it looks and feels out there!

Question is will it stay away?

In the meantime I’m just appreciating some sunshine like a man reborn!

continuous rumbles from this storm

Interesting storm that, looks like it keeps decaying on the western edge and then re-building northwards. There aren't that many lightning strikes on the detectors but radar returns look strong!

yeah it is barely picking up any of the lighting strikes strangely, tbh I have only seen maybe 4 or 5 lightning strikes but the thunder is very impressive and heard an awful lot of it

Heard plenty of thunder here where I am, but it always seems to track to the north, same story as yesterday. Unfortunately not much to see as it's pretty overcast again.

100mm/hr+ rain rates over quite a large area, suspect that will be hail with flooding likely! Kilmarnock to Galston look like getting hit next - that will be A77 flooding again, unless it dies off - I'm tempted to take a drive down but as rossco mentioned, visibility is poor.

Bit of blue sky now so I can see the massive anvils from the storms over Ayrshire, if they continue to move North they should just get here before Christmas!

Perhaps some sort of hints here (weird as thought noticed some sort of anvil out to the mountains when I was walking down to the shop) can't get a pic where I am though as blocked by houses although cloud to the south and clear to the north
