Morning all,

The dreaded haar rolled in overnight but the sun is currently doing its best to burn it off. The wind has died down, making the haar more of a threat today. 12c.

Last day of meteorological spring and it’s been one to remember: dry and sunny. Only 45mm of rainfall in total over the three spring months of March, April and May at Leuchars and it will be less than that in some of the drier parts of the East Neuk!

We've been more fortunate here, having 82mm according to my rain gauge in March April and May, and the six Lomonds reservoirs are all full.

I remember meeting someone from Turriff back in February in West Lothian, and him saying he couldn't believe how waterlogged the ground was in the Central Belt, cos up in Turriff he said he could roll his fields if he wanted to. Amazing how that wee northeast corner has had such different weather to the rest of the country. Caithness to a lesser extent too.

Didn't really come to anything here though I could see bits down towards the river. Clear and sunny from first thing but a strengthening breeze just taking the edge off the heat. Currently a pleasant 19C.

Chance of some thundery showers moving south across Scotland through Tuesday latest fax showing the lowering pressure and front, will keep an eye. A7DF7344-AADB-4B0B-AD27-F53D285AF8C7.thumb.png.596bc93323bfbd6703511aa7f8bfc5f7.png

Yeah saw that earlier on the netweather model, pretty widespread heavy showers with decent Cape and Li. Fingers crossed! An amazing spring overall but we've not had any downpours so that would be nice to end this hot spell.

Another cracking day here into the low to mid twenties. I can't remember the last spell we had like this where the paddling pool had been out for so long and the water was actually warm

The sun won the battle here, clear blue skies with the haar driven out to sea. 15c in the easterly breeze.

23.2°C so ninth day of 20C+. Refreshing breeze, thankfully. Jealous of your river swimming @CatchMyDrift. Only limited padding in the Tweed here! The dogs look well happy. Is that a road or railway over bridge?

Another beautiful morning, 19c and blue skies - and again that pesky SE breeze.

Wish I never opened the Met Office forecast, what a depressing outlook...

The sun is out again but the haar was lapping the shores of the East Neuk this morning before appearing to drift away NWwards towards the Angus coast.

It’s around 14c again this afternoon so we won’t notice the midweek temperature drop off quite as much as others

The Netweather short range model is going for heavy showers and storms for the North and East from tomorrow lunchtime, it then has more showers and storms over towards Glasgow later in the evening and overnight.  The models won't nail the exact location and it's pretty widespread so there's the chance of a downpour almost anywhere tomorrow. 23c here currently

@Ross B latest Met Office for tomorrow:

As you say - North and East look most at risk but you just never know what might pop up in the West!

Hopefully a convective Summer ahead!

Temperature here is 22C with barely a breeze to be had! Glorious stuff.

A few clouds around today (fair weather of course) so not the clear blue skies of yesterday but breeze has gone hence feels warmer. The clouds though are a sign of things to come

Will try and put a storm risk map together later but the area models seem most keen on appears to be between say Montrose and Stonehaven but quite a widespread risk of showers breaking out across the country just not sure how widespread the CAPE will be, wrf nmm 2km appears to weaken it quite a bit as precip moves further S / SW but will see what later runs show.

Defnety a lot more humid today. It as if the atmosphere is building towards a breakdown. OK might be plain heavy showers in the end tomorrow but who knows. Must be the hottest day since the hottest day last year back in July

Oh well, that was nice while it lasted. What a wonderful few days despite the nagging wind. Got the grass cut today on the basis that it might be a while before I'd get another chance, and boy had it grown. We ended the day by eating dinner outside on the patio, the first time we've done that in a while. We have had a few lunches outside the last few days though.

Let's just hope that this spell of weather is a sign of the summer to come. Look on the next few days as a top up of the water table, a break from having to water the plants, a chance to get caught up on indoor jobs, and get ready for round 2?

Tenth day of 20C+ with 24.8°C in the garden. Humid, definitely - was dripping sweat after a 40 minute not even that vigorous walk, this afternoon. Trying not to wear one of my dozens of black t shirts.....

Was later to be found hanging out in the fridge and freezer aisles in Peebles Tesco. This made me chuckle:

A very pleasant 21.8C max today which like the previous couple of days was several degrees above the forecast for here. Sunny all day with just a little fair weather cloud this evening off to the West and also thicker cloud out over the North Sea to the East.

image.thumb.png.68c37af48af71d7b1d053c2d0dfd5c41.png looks like a trough ahead of the front will carry the thunder risk, wrf nmm 2km shows an area of around 800/900 j/kg CAPE from that area i mentioned earlier (stonehaven - montrose) then moves into Fife and then into Edinurgh and the borders gradually weakening, I wonder if there could also be a chance of funnel cloud formation as the charts do show shear and helicity present nmm_uk1-15-27-3.thumb.png.ddfc4c00031675e7032ffdc4f9e936e0.pnggfs_srh_eur30.thumb.png.f0bed66257672595cb517c1ff0d4b34f.pnggfs_icape_eur27.thumb.png.e8da5a1432393ef3d6de541e4c2782bd.pngsrh03_uk.thumb.png.7adca93985636df18faafe629e6f3e64.pngbs0500_uk.thumb.png.81efb2a5b5306ed6cd14cdab6dc536de.png

It may have been the UK's sunniest May on record and sunniest month on record but it was only Scotland's 10th sunniest May and 21st sunniest month.

Pretty incredible Spring overall - our (Scotland) sunniest on record. (Dating back to 1929)

North East of Scotland in particular on an incredible run of above average sunshine duration and below average rainfall amount.

Even going back to Winter 2019/20:

Read this information below on the Met Office blog earlier...quite the stat.

It has been the fifth driest spring for the UK overall, but some counties in north east England and eastern Scotland have recorded their driest spring in a rainfall series from 1862.

@Kirkcaldy Weather great forecast but a few of us would like that yellow box further West.

Oh and mon the Cromdale!

You could get used to this weather.

Topped out at 24.2c under mainly clear skies in the afternoon.  Even the nagging wind died down a bit.

Lovely evening as well.
