Mostly cloudy and cool today with temperatures stuck in single figures. Not what I’m looking for in mid-May. Here’s to something warmer!

Same just up the road here. Single figure max and mostly cloudy with just a couple of very light showers. More blue sky showing this evening though. Max was 9C and no air frost here last night with a min of 1C.

Forty-third air frost at -2.8C and the coldest night here for six weeks. Brought the plants inside in anticipation - phew!!  Brilliant sunshine earlier but now cloudy and 11C. Maybe the lightest of showers this afternoon but not expecting much.

Looking at the forecasts I wonder if we will squeeze one more air frost tonight, but that may be it for the season... Or maybe not.

2nd October HC. Interesting to compare a full year of minimum temperatures at EDI:

Almost looks like spring is stalled this year - usually it's a smooth upward sine wave (or something like that - I forget the term!)

Cutting domestic grasses today in full winter gear as it was so cold with only brief sunny intervels a moderate wind  and occasional drizzly showers. Currently 9c                  Sky is still cold and wintry looking with superb visibility between the showers

What was interesting though was that there has been a third day of lying fresh snow on Ben More so late in May is quite something

Felt much milder here today with bright intervals and a light wind. Max was 15.4C and min 2.1C. Liked this photo from yesterday of the Cairngorms. Spot the hawk?

Great photo but couldn’t spot the hawk on my phone. Must be age

Similar day here, much milder with a high of 15c and feels almost balmy this evening in comparison to earlier in the week.

Sorry Hawesy. Not a real hawk. Look at the snow on the Cairngorms to the right of the photo!

I guess it might roughly follow a sine wave but the weather will do what the weather wants which these days is pretty random!  The diurnal range seems all over the place, sometimes many times greater (for a few days) than at other times.  The joy of being an island downwind of a big ocean... Iceland is a similar story but even more extreme: winds and precipitation are really extreme at times.

Still pretty good here, starting to wonder if the Earth has moved off kilter and Falkirk has ended up somewhere dry and sunny (though not roasting) .

Saw this big boy on my walk today.

The typical view earlier this morning.

Now a good bit cloudier, though temperature at its max so far at 12.4c.  Stiff NW wind though that ensures you don't venture out without a jacket.

Dry so far but showers forecast later.

Not a bad day at all in the neighbourhood. Warm in sunshine, chilly in breeze when cloud rolled-over. Got up to 12.5C.

Still some snow patches on Broad Law at 840m - not bad for 15 May:

Got up to 15.1C here though there has been a lot of cloud and a few light showers. Quite a strong Westerly breeze.

A military plane was doing laps over the house today. Local news reporting it was a training exercise. 9AACB55C-F3F4-4D8D-9729-870A9604CCCC.thumb.jpeg.09eafde4977393f9932f80defc92c220.jpeg

Agreed. 12.9°C but a couple of hours of light rain early afternoon.

This chill weather and near constant grey is starting to grate now. Feels baltic for this late in Spring.

At least it isn't raining but even that looks like changing soon.

With the wind in the west now a very different feel to the weather here in NE Fife to what we had through much of the end of April and early May. The 9c and 10c maxes have gone, it reached 17c at Leuchars despite limited sunshine today.

Very respectable day, helped by the forecasted rain never appearing.

75:25 mix of cloud/sunshine with light westerly winds.  Big improvement in temperature with a max of 15c, even now still a respectable 10c.

Lovely sunset as well.

That RAF plane is doing a lot of training over Scotland at the moment, seems to be flying over Aberdeenshire every other day.  That, combined with the medical flights coming in from Inverness/West Coast, is all you see here in the way of planes these days.
