[Hairy Celt]

Getting this front hammering through Caithness just now, very wet sleety rain and blustery as it clears out. Car thermometer says 4C and it feels nasty.

Quite impressed  with the wrf nmm again, when it comes to snowfall etc some models can just persist run after run but to my surprise after last nights 18z looked quite snowy in parts checking today’s run and a quite dramatic decrease in snow being shown and looking at the radar looks like mainly rain currently in the NW with the front moving in with radar showing sleet in a few parts. Not sure what’s caused the sudden change possibly the colder air not moving in quick enough to interact with the front. Still some snow for parts of the highlands but doesn’t look as widespread as it once did.

Afternoon all

Current temperature of 10C but a raw and biting NW wind currently with gusts between 20 to 25mph. (Very exposed here to that direction - feels like temperature of 7C)

Looked lovely in this part of Caithness earlier  @Hairy Celt

Just running the radar forward - think I might get a wee bit of drizzly pish later but that should be it before another clear night. (Freezing again overnight)

Another through the window picture from 21:20 last night - how many mostly clear nights have we all had this Spring!? Must be up there with @shuggee number of air frosts!

Started dull and 7c in the early morning  but deterioated and has just got very windy with some heavy rain and now 4c.

Cloudy and dry most of the morning but blustery heavy rain has now moved in. Could be a bit of sleet mixed in but I'm in no hurry to venture out to check. Hopefully à bit of a warm up from today onwards, with the models showing something more around normal temperature wise next week.

Update Just had a heavy hail shower finished off with a few flakes of  moderate snow. Currently 3c

wind/cloud are increasing. That front getting closer. Little more rain to come at the very least

Big gusts for a minute ir two as the squall hit left wheelies all over the place as it is bin day. Not going to last long as the heavy burst of rain already passed through and clouds thinning. Temp did drop 4C in just a short time though.

As it is moving in here some quite low hanging cloud

14.1c a short time ago in plentiful strong sunshine (got sunburnt yesterday for the first time this year - cries) Feeling pleasant. 
 

Now clouded over, wind has strengthened. We need some rain as the MOD seems to suggest it’ll be back to sunglasses and BBQs soon!

It's almost mid May!!

Stunning ECM run for us! Usual caveats apply and will probably look completely different on the next run but it’s worth a look - other models are not far off similar conditions and the extended Met Office outlook is more than decent for the month ahead)

Warmth begins next Tuesday and by Friday many of us are hitting the mid 20’s at least. 

 

Glorious stuff if it became reality - we shall see next week! 

Can see showers building/incoming to my North at the moment. (Had a couple of light ones so far that barely wet the ground)

Another February day!

Colder than yesterday with a max of 8c in the morning.  The cold front came through in the early afternoon but no appreciable precipitation from that - followed though by some showers of graupel driven through quickly by the fresh Northerly wind.

Lovely evening for a walk but it was full winter clothing time again with the temperature at 2.5c at 9pm (now 0.3c and falling).

Heavy sleet and hail showers again this morning including one that woke me up at about 6 - that was really crazy for 10 minutes. 

Glimpsed Morven briefly, streaked white down to low levels now. 

Strong north or north-westerly breeze in showers making it feel very unpleasant.

Forty second air frost at -0.5C at dawn. Clear bright morning, but a wee bit of cloud about now still only 5C. My wee geraniums and fuchsias must be shivering!

A afternoon of sun and cloud but wind doesn't feel bracing a lot warmer than probably temps suggest beautiful

Still a cool wind but far sunnier than forecast and therefore warmer at a pleasant 15.2c.

Odd bits of sunshine today but mostly cloudy  Has been very cool too with a maximum of 7c at 1.00pm.Ben More has retained its fresh coat of snow all day.

[Quinach]

A bit of brightness first thing in the morning but thereafter overcast and feeling downright Baltic, even though the winds were quite light.

Max of 8c with the occasional spot of rain in the air.

Roll on the warm-up next week.
