It's snowing here. But there's zero chance of anything settling (even temporarily) at the minute at least.

Edit: Now a horrid mix of sleet and hail. Hideous out there!

Cats got into bed before I was up this morning - sure sign of crap weather - slush gathering in gutters, the street resembles a river and the wind is rushing through the shrubs and hedges. There are essential outdoor duties awaiting today....

Brief moderate snow shower here earlier, which was lying on some surfaces, but back to sunshine again for the moment. I suspect the hills will soak up most of the showers again before they reach here so despite the forecast I'm not expecting much other than the odd flurry.

Heavy squally sleet showers here this morning. Almost snow in the heaviest bits. We also had that squall between midnight and 1AM. Sounded and felt like the strongest winds I have noticed here in the last few weeks but did not last long. Since then it has been gusty in the showers but nothing drastic. Tay bridge closed to double deckers only so nothing over 60mph recently.

Planning to hit the hills after 12pm, as any precipitation should have cleared by then. Decent windchill temps, -5C,  and bright conditions should make for an excellent hike.

Great opportunity to test out a new synthetic insulation jacket. Ridiculously light weight at 335g and I have doubts it will keep me warm.

We shall see....

According to the GFS @Hawesy wetbaws look better later for some accumulations at low levels.

Yep does look more promising later in the day. I wonder if the precipitation will still be as widespread then!

Where are you headed? I was going to go out but wind speeds look too high for my liking. Hope to get out a bit tomorrow instead!

Heavy snow shower passing over now, and with the wind getting up along with it it's been real blizzard-like for the last few minutes. Be back to sunshine soon no doubt, but at least this has the feel of winter about it.

Still rain here in Pittenweem, hopeful of seeing a few flakes later. Maybe.

210mm here. First time I've looked at SEPA data. Cheers Catch/101_North

Never realised SEPA had a station 2 mile from my house (Newtonairds)...

250mm this month. 480mm for 2020 so far (hahaha)

Only thing we've not had this morning is thunder and a flash of lightning. Really is WILD out there!

Been snowing on and off all morning, but everything melting when it hits the ground. Off to Google wetbaws so I understand how this affects the snow ?

Local hills around Alford Aberdeenshire. Low level hike around 450 mts asl max Today's trip to Lochnagar was cancelled due to the weather forecast.

Wind gusting to 45nph with snow continuing to fall over the surrounding hills.

Quick video showing conditions in Alford an hour ago.

Good stuff. Enjoy!
