I’m not getting involved in next weeks charts just yet...especially talk of mid January 2018...

Windy today and frequent squally heavy showers rattling through.
It is going to be wild here in the early hours - between 2am and 4am the Met Office are going for 55mph gusts. (Very windy in quite a few parts with snowfall settling over the higher ground)

Latest GFS similar.

I see that January was our (Scotland) 5th warmest on record.

It is over to you February to deliver the snowy goods for those of us who have seen zilch!

Enjoy yer night everyone!

It's more the convective potential than anything else, as far as I am aware. Somewhere could get 30-40cm of snow off showers alone if that comes off. Just ask @shuggee about Jan 2018. Even I managed 15cm this far east.

Aye, watching this closely. A701 closed for three days back then. Very interesting Mr Catch.

Meanwhile it's bucketing with snow with these hefty showers blowing through right now. Grass and car white.....

Forgot about that bit  can confirm undies were worn, would have worn another pair on my head for warmth but would have prob drawn strange looks and further health and safety paperwork

No comments on presence or otherwise of knickers but I agree today was raw. Fearsome gusts and sleety rain in Caithness, nastiest day for a long time, even with it at 6C.

Just caught a shower about 10 mins ago with big flakes.   Off now though. Temp:1.3c/0.6c dp/15.mph/WSW.

Looking at the radar, we could catch a few more later maybe.

I was on the edge of glory there!  Was watching it approach on the radar...proper heavy wintry shower! Sleet and a wee bit of hail with some snowflakes blowing in the wind! Pretty sure above 100 meters here that was all snow!

Wind gusts for early morning forecast to be a wee bit stronger again - 55/60mph could be reached.

I’ve asked myself that question many times.

Always the same answer: move house!
