A covering here albeit the current drizzle is causing a complete sludge fest. Anywhere with elevation will have lots as it’s poured all night here

Attached was my drive home (filmed by my passenger ;)

Nice to see the photos and reports!

Currently on the train between Glasgow and Edinburgh wishing it was light!

Needless to say not expecting to see anything white in coastal NE Fife! @Norrance how did you do in Dundee?

More than the expected 'dusting' here, I'd classify it as a 'covering'. Nice to see, especially this winter, but nothing to get excited about.

Great to see the snow pics on here this morning despite my own obvious disappointment. Absolutely heehaw here after an awful wet evening.

Yet again a frontal event failed to deliver here. Stuck in the mild sector with the heavy ppn really staying out to the west of Edinburgh tracking NE'wards. The modelling from GFS was rubbish as usual. Euro4 did much better showing my location being towards the easterly extent of the ppn. I expect to see plenty of snow covered cars heading into town today from areas ridiculously close to here. Infuriating stuff

Not surprised at this given the radar last night..

Commuters are facing potential travel chaos on the roads with snow and ice warnings active.

Every thing seemed to miss my house last night, would've been really annoying if I was there to miss it by a few miles!

Well we ended up with 4cm here in there end, enough to cause utter carnage with it being the most snow since spring 2018.

Likely be a big thaw during today

Wintry shower passed through earlier from the West while the sunrise to the East - I will take this as a consolation prize for having no snow!

Wee video of the sunrise as well.

I’m off to see if I can get permission from the other half to head for the higher hills.

Have a good day everyone. ⛄

3 to 4cm here and its all frozen beautifully so the roads were fun and the morning slush fest did not happen.... Best snowfall since the beast.... Unfortunately probably thaw before home as would have made good sledging conditions.

Has frozen solid here too, had to chip away with a shovel to clear the back steps.

My cycle this morning was like dicing with death! Very icy on the canal path. I ended up taking the main road instead. Plenty of snow piles at traffic lights from cars coming into town down Lanark Road.

Quick picture from the morning walk to the school bus. The estate roads are solid ice so glad I'm working from home today.

Probably about 1cm here although i'm sure any higher routes not too far away did ok.It was constant heavyish snow for about 2 hrs last night but falling on to wet ground and with the temp between 1 and 2 it struggled to stick. It's melted back and went quite slushy already.

It's unusual for anything to settle in such a marginal setup here, it usually stays as rain or sleet.

Dry and sunny in Caithness after an early frost (-1C at 7am), now at 3C.  Ms HC at home excited about a covering, everywhere except around our house.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
