I am also not sure what to expect later. I am working in East Kilbride later until 1am so maybe the drive home will be interesting, who knows? It will be nice just to see some snow falling at least.

East Kilbride looking good at the moment between midnight and 4am - as you say could be an interesting drive!

Left for work earlier in the dark (picture taken through window) - snowline here was roughly 450 meters.

Managed to get tomorrow off so hopefully get up early and enjoy some snowfall - whether that be at sea level or up at 100/200 meters.

Fingers crossed for us all - not had much to get excited about snowfall wise this Winter.

Interesting drive down south this morning, hail showers at home in Glasgow then no snow at the side of the M74 (about 400m asl at the highest) back down to carslile and across the A69 where there was snow and hail lying on the road at about 150m with a good cover above 200m asl on the western side of the pennines.

Gutted to be missing the lamppost watch tonight but hopefully many of you will see a decent fall of snow !

Snap. Although as it got down to -0.3C around 22:00 last night I am counting my twenty second air frost.

Peaceful morning but what lies ahead?

The Met-O text forecast is promising:

However, as shown by @Mr Frost the Euro4 takes the main precip west. The 00z GFS is still spitting out 20cm of snow and fog for me. Who knows what will be right? (my money is on the Euro4)

There are no Met Office weather warnings... :whistling:

Check back in an hour and they will have some out and that'll be us stuffed.

@Kirkcaldy Weather's model looks good for me as it rolls the snow further east than the Euro4:

I barely get clipped on the above!

Squeaky bum time for me looking at that and the latest ECM, GFS and Met Office fax chart.

Definitely a shift further South and East than previously!

Very interesting late night/early morning radar viewing ahead! (Hoping the Euro4 has called it from IMBY point of view! )

I'm liking the look of this, 100% a warning coming for tonight, any form of lying snow will be nice, don't really care about the depth the now

Late frost last night at home, up to 3C and rain by 7am.  Some dustings above Dingwall, maybe down to 250m or so; Caithness is at 2C, bone dry with a nasty little breeze.  Even the hills I see to the west are just dark grey.

Definitely a longjohns day...

Stuffings all round in the east.  Caithness will be lucky to see sleet. Having said that, they're a snow-hating lot around here....

You're sorted now, not even in the warning area:

Indeed - game on for me now! 5cm at sea level guaranteed!

Those charts show the Kirkcaldy snow shield perfectly Met office has heavy rain followed by light snow and BBC has sleet followed by snow for here looking at the short range models the temps and dew points look like they will be fine it's just getting the positioning of the precip that's the problem, I will wait til later to see if I fancy trying to do a snow risk map

snow warning issued including here it must be wrong "An area of sleet and snow is likely to move eastwards overnight, followed by a few wintry showers. Surfaces then freezing, leading to icy stretches. There is a small chance that up to 5 cm of snow could fall down to sea level. Snow over high ground is much more likely, with 5-10 cm above 250 m and as much as 15 cm above 350 m."

Aye a will believe that when a see it...

I probably drove through the same shower, at about 8am? Temps of 1 or 2C meant a frost on car windscreen, with rain in Alford that changed to wet snow as it got heavier around tillyfourie. Currently bright and cool in Inverurie.

I'm just inside a yellow Ice and Snow warning for tonight, but not holding out hope of anything more than a dusting.
