Meto forecast mentions lying snow at times between Mon- wed before getting milder later Wednesday (no mention of hills!) guess who leaves early on Monday and gets back late Wednesday

We now have THREE snowflakes for Monday and one for Tuesday!!!    

I'm just so excited... especially as I won't be here and Caithness gets ZERO snowflakes.

Well, that's the fun and games over. Back to sunny Scotland.

A few snaps (one I think was the quick yin from before), mainly from the top of the L'Aiguille Rouge (3226 m) in Les Arcs.

The snaw was pretty good; whole mountain open with some great skiing at times. But just starting to get a bit thin lower down on sunny slopes, and where it was heavily wind-scoured on some higher exposed ridges towards the end of the week. Overall, it's not been a great season for the Alps so far, but with altitude (e.g. 1600m+) it's decent enough as usual.

Luckily, I understand they're due 50 cm over 2-3 days next week!

As for Scotland. At least there's a few flakes on my forecast, and for the mountains things look a bit more like winter.

Met O warning out for ice with 2-6cm of snow forecast above 100m in central Scotland (300m southern Scotland). That gives some of our members a chance of seeing some accumulating snow! Fingers crossed!

The Met Office isn't showing any snow for here, the Beeb has a flake or two on Turesday and that's it, the Beeb weather is also saying next weekend to be very mild.

This snow depth prediction also shows Fife not getting very much.

The first wintry shower has arrived  here with sleet and hail.

Similar setup to that one a few weeks ago and again the Great Glen (and just to the west of this) look best @West Highland Storm get the camera ready for some snowy pics. 20-30 cm in best spots also good chance of thunder for the western isles and far west coast.

I think the highest mountain in the background is Ben Vorlich. Tarbet on Loch Lomond is the village in the foreground. Photo was taken after a recent shower passed by and has left a dusting on the upper slopes. Temperature is dropping so I expect the snow line to drop if any showers come through.

Beginning to think there might be more snow than forecast. Here's the very latest NOAA 15 satellite pass at 7.15pm. Big chunks of the stuff oot west.

Oh, deep joy! ❄❄❄ Forecast for Monday when I have a 200 mile drive home to Skye from Central belt. Not a happy bunny as I hate driving in snow. Fortunately I have a co-driver with me so we can share the driving. It'll be a longer journey than normal that's for sure! See you on the white side! ❄❄❄❄

I haven't been drinking, but it's been snowing slightly over night. Around the house some rather pathetic patchy amounts but more for the surrounding hills.

A wee covering this morning, couple of cms. Showers were snow on the commute until upper Inverness but at low level it’s looking like sleet/rain showers on a biting wind is the menu today. Could have picked a better day to forget my snood

First proper night/early morning lamppost watching ahead for many of us! 
Not quite sure what to expect here - heavy rain, sleet or snow? Who knows!

Euro4 gives myself and many others a pasting.

 

Great to just have a snowfall risk after this shambles of a Winter so far! (low ground snow)

Met Office going for Lanarkshire as the sweet spot overnight.
 

 

Wild day ahead on the surrounding hills/mountains.

Sleet/snow around at the moment as reported by others up North. 
 

 

Winter weather has arrived at last - will be short lived 24/48 hours but I don’t care! Bring on the snow!!! 

Hopefully many snowy pictures in here tomorrow morning - have a good day!

Not so much as a frost! Can't say I'm expecting anything later either. PPN charts aren't great for here.

I am also not sure what to expect later. I am working in East Kilbride later until 1am so maybe the drive home will be interesting, who knows? It will be nice just to see some snow falling at least.
