It’s nice to see some folk seen a bit of snow today. I found some pictures while on Twitter.

I see there is some optimism in the mad house for a possible pattern change. Hopefully we can get a decent cold spell as we head into February.

No luck on the nacreous cloud hunt today here. IMG_20200109_154157.thumb.jpg.24f48ada85926792e0408ba95f3a616d.jpgIMG_20200109_154151.thumb.jpg.71073aef9077324344d55bdba520d990.jpg

I thought the Nacreous clouds might have made an appearance - sunset behind that hill in the above picture and I got some colour. No luck this time - try again sunrise tomorrow!

Have a good night!

Cracking photos!

Had to scrape the car here this morning and drive to work was -2 or -3C all the way. Bright but cold day in Inverurie and -1 or -2C on the drive home. Nice to see some snow pics, even if we'd all like it to be much snowier.

Today's weather was good here with sunshine for most of the day easily the best weather we've had so far in 2020 and it has been cold as well with 4.3c being our highest temperature and currently it's 0.0c just after 8.30pm.

Tornado threat tomorrow (Texas) upgraded to moderate risk then also further east toward Alabama on Saturday, potential for some strong tornadoes.

Fairly bright outside thanks to the clear skies and full moon. Easy to nip out for logs without the aid of a head torch. Didnt check the temperature, but it is very cold out there. Currently feeding kiln dried beech logs into the stove  Heat output is ridiculous

Just checked garden thermometer. -5C and already a hard frost.

Had a bit of an extended lunch-break to go on a snow-hunt today (one of the small pleasures of being self-employed!).  South of about Lesmahagow there was a smattering on low ground, but decent-looking cover on the hills.  Surprisingly dry and powdery as it turns out! Didn't have time to take a proper walk up Tinto, but went round to the quiet side of the hill on the back road to Wiston and spent an hour or so wandering up one rise which goes up to 400m or so a.s.l. and then down the other side.

Back up the M74, and quickly back to bright sunshine and green fields after the monochrome world of the Southern Uplands!

I'm feeling pretty snow starved here in Cheshire, these pictures are beautiful and cheered me up, I'm still hopeful for some snow before the season is out. 'Always look on the white side of life'

Yes some scary chat about the tornados occurring at night potentially and they are 50 per cent more deadly in darkness.

Cracking day, max of 4c with light winds and plenty sunshine.

Proper winter's night, clear skies and currently -5.6c with hoar frost - everything sparkling in the moonlight.
