9c/7c, windy and now wet - not the best welcome back to work! I'm lucky enough to be off to Turin on Thursday so at least it's a short week!

Some great photos on here despite the lack of wintry weather.

10C at present.

Spent the morning walking the local hills, windy at the top meant cool conditions. Tee shirt and a soft shell was more than enough. Couple of frosty mornings due mid week.

Yesterday was the same old dull cloudy rainy weather with a max temperature of 9.5c at 9.02pm. Today started off wet and windy the local weather station reported a gust of 50mph. The afternoon has improved though its a bit brighter and drier. Tomorrow is looking even windier for many places the Western Isles this morning reported gusts over 60mph with Barra at 75mph.

Very blustery overnight which resulted in a bit of guttering being ripped off. I rescued it and left it in the garage till our local builder gets a dry day to put it back up. More blusteriness tomorrow so here's hoping everything else stays intact!

Cracking sunrise @Northernlights

@mistyqueen looks pretty wild for you tomorrow.

My location expecting 55/60mph - peaking mid/late morning.

Was just reading the Met Office stats for December - worse than I thought!

Mean temperature compared to the 1981-2010 anomaly:

Compare the above to November:

Onwards and upwards...plenty of time to go.

Have a good night.

Forecast is for temps cold enough for snow in Caithness on and off over the next week but of course it's also forecast to be pretty much bone dry.

My phone bleeped an Aurora alert last night and it was 100% cloud cover.

I think we should hire a cabin in Lapland next January, get a minibus with winter tyres and head over. Of course there'll be the mildest winter on record. Fk it, why wait - we could go now! Oh wait...

If it fails to materialize, spit the dummy and "sign off for winter". Its all the rage on the MAD thread.

Might go one better and post some pics of my glorious sleet fest and comment "who said we need a SSW to get cold and sleet to the UK" and then ask the South of the M4 mob how they are getting on?

Turns out fantasy nonsense forecasts are all the rage in 2020

Even the Met want to join in - although clearly playing it safe

Just now, bigsnow said:

@101_North you might want to leave the bike at home and walk to work that morning.

Where were you with that advice yesterday? Just about killed me dragging the extra mince pies back up the road in a gale after work
