Yesterday here had some sunshine between the heavy showers and the wind was a bit gusty too. Today back to what we've had constantly recently cloudy, dull with some rain and mild temperatures.

Here's some woodland up in the north-east - we were there after overnight rain, so there was a lovely moisty, misty feel to the place.      

 

There were many days of driving along misty fjords  

 

and some misty mountains and glaciers, with a Canada Goose posing

MOD thread.... wow what a place to be. still the same daft poster spilling out garbage of radical outcomes that over the last 3 or 4 winters none of them have ever once actually come true, no gain no momentum just outlandish rubbish that leads others up the garden path. sure one day it might happen but then again a stopped clock is correct twice a day.

They'll be at each others throats before long. There's only so much buffoonery the flock will tolerate.

Completely covered in snow at the moment. 
 

 

Would love to see those clouds @Kirkcaldy Weather - Scandinavia (especially Northern parts) really is the dream for cold/snow seekers in Winter.

Wind, rain and mild temperatures for us.

Monday morning through to lunchtime and Tuesday most of the day look very windy for many of us. (Quite widespread gusts of 50mph - stronger gusts than this expected as per the Met Office warning issued yesterday)

Tuesday looks incredibly mild for a few...Elgin could be hitting 15c for example. (13/14c for many other parts of Scotland)

Colder on Wednesday with wintry showers over the hills but nothing for us (cold/snow lovers) to get excited about at the moment with regards to a wintry spell of weather. 
It is all a bit crap isn’t it? 
 

Anyways - have a good week everyone and I guess at least we will have some actual weather to discuss over the coming days. (Wind mostly)

So winter has finally arrived here. Temp is -9.5c and there's five inches of snow on the ground. And.... Oh, wait a minute, I've just woken up! Checks window.... raining again! Temp is actually 9.5c and the ground is just mush. Ah well, a girl can dream! Suppose I'd best get on. Got knitting, ironing, log chopping to do before I head out this afternoon to catch the latest Star Wars epic. Really looking forward to Tuesday's fab weather ( not! ) so best check that everything is tied doon outside.

Got back home last night after an overnight with my folks in the Central belt. Glad to be home, not so glad to look at the forecasts. Might as well stick the skis & boots in thier normal position at the back of the garage out of the way rather than leaving them more easily accessible.

Mild again this morning, 8.5C with a strengthening SW wind.

I suspect we might be on course for the warmest UK January, since records began.

Only needed half the straw today to bed cattle as with the strong SW wind overnight the folds and fields have been drying up Sheep shifted onto a field of fresh green grass this afternoon. Maximum of 10c so without the wind it would have seemed very springlike. RH of 65% this afternoon. Birds are still singing loudly inthe garden as I type this.

 

We may have finally turned from late autumns high humidities to more drying conditions. Some years we have to wait for February with its lower humidities,  frosts and sublimation to rid the soil of moisture

 Still suspect that we will have  more wintery  weather in the spring

Another day of greyness and occasional drizzle. Out this afternoon taking the Christmas lights down and it was feeling very mild. With a bit of sun, it would have felt like spring.  Seeing stuff in the garden coming up that I would not normally expect to see until March. 

Dec 19 was the first December since we moved in to our house 10 years ago that there has been absolutely no lying snow. Even in a 'mild' winter, there has always been at least a dusting at some point.

I haven't looked into the MOD thread at all this autumn / winter and I think I will keep it that way. I presume they are slitting their wrists in there?

State of this winter so far summed up by this: in the garden, we have no snowdrops but we do have a few small ripe strawberries (I kid ye not).

Never mind actual snow! Even nonsense, made up, fantasy forecasts have been scarce! I'll enjoy this one until it changes in about 20mins time

Another incredibly mild dry day with a max of 10.5c in light winds (though the wind has noticeably increased in the last couple of hours).

Not much in the way of sunshine but what a stunning sunset, best for many months.  The intensity of the red, orange and blue was something special.

Also some obligatory Bennachie photos (looking north towards it from Lyne).

Temp topped out at 10deg/C today more mild damp pish...I pointed the thermometer at the clouds this evening 7deg/C with a ground temp of 8.5deg/C not even close to cold..!!!

If you have a spare few minutes have a watch of this video from Weatherbell over in the US its very interesting, all this unusual weather looks like its being caused by the same effects that's roasting Austraila, the US seems stuck at the moment as well they are normally in the freezer at this time of year.
