A   landmark birthday today was to finish with a trip to poole stadium to win a fortune at dog racing with friends.Looking at reports from near the coast, seems it might be safe to travel down, just wondering if anyone knows if the situation is likely to worsen,or if the worst of the weather is now, first race just after 6 pm.

We are currently getting constant 40-45mph gusts here.
A good half hour or so of that.

Think we have hit the storms peak now, not sure how much longer this will go on.
Forecast seem to think the wind will drop off around 6pm..

Still raining, not really heavy, 3.5mm so far today.

Sounds a tad early for the peak to be honest..squall line just cruised through that'll bring you some rain..

Yup.

We can hear a chainsaw going up the lane. Sounds like one of the roads out of the village is blocked off.

Went off to investigate and help Big George with the clearance.

Squall line imminent! Just had my highest gust iof the day (30 mph at 3 metres in the middle of 2 storey houses, it's usually about half the gust  speed at a 10 metre open aspect anemometer e.g. EGHI,  so likely a 60 mph-ish gust  at standard height).

A brief bit of heavy rain and stronger gusts went though a few minutes ago. Now back to light rain and not quite as windy but probably more than it was before the heavy rain went through.

Moot Ln at the back by Hale Park heading down to Woodgreen blocked by large branches and a tree I'm hearing.. also we haven't been struck by any power cuts yet but friend in Downton has had flickery lights the past hour.

The tree has gone and taken a palm tree with it. Time to get a gardener in to chop it all down properly.

Back edge looks to be coming through earlier than expected, if the squall line stays intact we might see some further action, but right now we seem to be in a holding pattern. It did (as noted by Matt111 get brighter for a while, so now we wait for the final blast...

Hazy sunshine here now and seems to have died down compared to earlier. But doesn't look like the next bout is far away..

This mornings squall line only really formed after passing Warminster, but this afternoon has provided a treat with 10 minutes of torrential rain and fierce swirling wind which has switched from WSW to WNW.

Temperature dropping rapidly now, it was 12.4c 15 minutes ago but now down to 9.2c and still dropping.

Whilst the squall line is being pushed ever southwards, it's also being pushed eastwards, so probably like the line it won't have too much to offer down here..

Its raining again now after a bright spell, but only lightly.
Still windy here, but a lot less than earlier. Gusts just 30-40mph now. Wind is still constant 20-26mph.

The barometer is now at 990.6 hPa and having a brief levelling out last half hour or so.
Temp has been steadily rising all day, now 12.3c and also staying there

Squall lines passed through here. Intense rain and a few very strong gusts for around 15 mins. Winds died down a bit now but no clearance as another area of rain is coming up from the SW.

Winds appeared to have peaked around 2pm here, with a gust of 52.1mph.

Have just driven back down from Manchester after a weekend away, travelling was not too bad, however was very blowy at times!

Currently 11.8°C, Winds SW at 25mph.

And now the sun is shining... still a bit breezy. What a day... no major damage to the house or garden. I hope everyone has been so lucky.
